bad service, terrific place, great coffee, nice friendly staff, good products, good hurt, recommend vanilla ice grinder
A chill relaxed coffee house.
Very cool little coffee place tucked away on Venice Blvd.
Nice selection of drinks, and nice friendly staff. The store itself is pretty small, but I think they are expanding into the space next door, which means more space for comfy chairs pls! They also have free Wi-Fi.
Parking is via street (2 hrs between 8 & 8) or if you get real lucky, then there is a small lot out back.
They also play great music and have rather nifty art on the walls too, which is nice!
Good place to study/ free wi-fi. I like studying and reading at this place a lot. On certain days, depending on who is working, they are more or less friendly/helpful. I don't agree with the person who wrote before that they are just plain rude - I think the staff has changed since then - but again I do think it depends on the day you go and who happens to be working. The men baristas are really nice and accommodating...the women ones I noticed (on the one day I happened to go last week) not so much. I personally think it's a wonderful place to work and get things done, while sipping on a hot or cold drink. I recommend their vanilla ice grinder or their other high-end coffee drinks. The plain coffee there is ok, but not amazing.
good idea, bad service. the place is designed nice and cozy. nevertheless, the stuff is unfriendly, loud, and obviously there to socialize rather then sell. nice selection of drinks and food, somewhat overpriced. they are lucky to be the only one on the block! not much of a place to go and write at, the bad acoustics make it even louder then it is.
WORST SERVICE EVER!!.
Good products- coffee, loose tea, great healthy snacks, lots of variety. That being said...
THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I realize that bad service is an epidemic disease in southern california, but c'mon! I was at the farmers market one sunday morning and bought a cup of coffee from the Venice Grind stand and when I got the coffee I asked if they had any milk, and someone responded, >yeah, just hold on!< It was at least 5 minutes -no exaggeration- before someone threw a gallon of milk at us, us being the now 10 people waiting for it!
Then, I went in for a cup recently and stood at the counter for about 2 minutes before I was greeted, even though I'd already gotten the non-verbal stinkeye from the baristas several times. I just stood there patiently, knowing that they would have to take my order eventually. Then, surprise surprise, my drink was totally wrong, and when I humbly apologized and asked for a remake, I received a sigh, a grunt and rolling of the eyes from the barista, followed by a 5 minute wait. I have the same experience every time I go! I even tipped after that! So now who's the idiot!
NOTE TO MANAGER: all this situation needs is an attitude adjustment, and a simple genuine greet like, >I'll be right with you in a moment<. And if a drink is wrong, how about a >oh, hey, my bad, I'll remake that for you in a sec! thanks for waiting< .Totally different experience. I'm in the service industry so I'm actually pretty understanding, but Now I will really never go back to this place, which is a shame because I live really close.
