Mendocino Farms – My sister brought me here after hearing about it from her fiancee who works in downtown. This place can be hard to find, even for being in a food court it is in a corner by its lonesome! But no fear Mendocino for ever being alone! Lots of friends you have there in line Mendocino! The line is always long but never takes more than a few minutes to get through it! They have friendly people who will hand you menus while you wait in line, and use this waiting time to your advantage, there is soooo much to choose from you may have secretly wished you had 2 stomachs!
Forgive me if I forget the names of the sandwiches we ordered. She got the pressed ciabatta and i got the citrus tuna which were both sooooo amazing!!! Their menu is great with cute little add-ons like the type of vinaigrette's and the type of breads (GET THE SOURDOUGH OMG)
After you order you see them make the sandwiches and there is a deli you can grab samples from while waiting for you delicious-ness to be reasy!
I was so happy to discover they have a location open on the West side in Marina Del Ray, a lot easier for me to use up all their sourdough bread.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Like a renegade Subway on steroids, this hugely popular downtown gourmet sandwich shop in California Plaza offers up wildly inventive creations that can challenge even the most jaded palate. Fans of the shop bemoan the hours--Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm only--and horrendous parking (they don’t validate either). Fluorescent lights, glass walls, stainless steel and a plastic cow create a less than pastoral atmosphere but the herd of people waiting to order (some of whom may indeed have two stomachs) stands as a testament to the popularity of this place. Despite its urban atmosphere, the menu is inspired by wine country aesthetics, and ingredients are seasonal and organic. Order while waiting in the queue, and your assembly line of sandwich artisans will whip up your choice of Kobe beef meatloaf, duck confit, veggie BLT, Kurobuta pork belly, steak and Brie, proscuitto and roasted chicken or citrus tuna among many others. Breads range from ciabatta to sourdough wheat and Curcama hazelnut; most are grilled panini style. Also look for homemade soups and fancy organic salads.
