Burbank >Olive Thai Massage
clean place, extremely reasonable prices, great thai massage
Great massage !. As a person who frequently gets massages, I feel I am a good judge of what's good. I will say I had a good massage every time I went here, but I look for other things as well: professionalism and how I am treated as a customer. The last time I went there, at the end of the massage as I was getting ready to pay, one of the ladies looked at me and made a comment and thereafter two of the masseuses standing there all laughed together making it pretty obvious who they were laughing about. I and other friends of mine have had similar experiences in manicure shops and I personally find this unacceptable. The least they can do is wait until the customer has left. I decided to go again last weekend because they do a good job with their massage. I decided this would be my last visit there. I took a friend of mine and he left them a $10 tip. I left an $8 tip. The whole time they were looking over our shoulder and having been to Thailand and knowing the word for $$ (Bat) I know they commented on that when I heard them saying it. I just feel this establishment needs to work on being more polite with their customers. I am going to try another place as I feel that the quality of work/service and customer relations go hand in hand.
GREAT MASSAGE. We love this place. My wife, daughter and myself travel from Newport Beach to get massages at Olive Thai. We've received massages from all over the world and this ranks with the best. Joe, the owner, as well as his staff are very courteous and professional. My wife loves the Thai massage and I always get the combo. The prices are extremely reasonable. The prior reviewer should take note that traditional Thai massage does not use oil and consists of a lot of facilitated stretching and compression. The oil becomes important only for the introduction of the Swedish element found in the "combo". Both are very effective and well executed - just depends on your personal preference.
Not quite what I was expecting.
I recently went here for a thai massage, which was not quite what I was expecting. I have had thai massage before and they have always used lotion or oil. This place does not, its skin on skin which can be VERY uncomfortable. They call it a combo and and charge you an additional $10 more if they use lotion. Other then that, as far as Thai Massage goes it's not bad the girl I had was very strong so she could get rid of any aches or pains I am sure. Also the place is clean - which is good.
UPDATE - a few days after I have some gnarly bruises from this massage.
