Editorial Review for Larchmont Grill – by Tara de Lis
In Short
Nestled in an old house, sweeping front porch and all, this comfortable neighborhood nook was actually once called The House, when it was run by Chef Scooter Kanfer. In 2007, a pair of longtime friends took over the space, kept the name from the prior owners (which might have been a slight misstep, since it was widely panned under their reign) and created a workable restaurant concept. The menu is solid. Not every dish is a hit (the chicken panini and turkey sandwich are basic middle-of-the-road menu items), but the classic Italian panini offers cold cuts with just enough kick and hot peppers to top it off. A perfectly pan-roasted trout bathes in citrusy lemon caper sauce, complemented by fresh vegetables. The velvety Velveeta-blended mac and cheese is not to be missed--order it as an appetizer to share.
Hits: The space is super cute and, in many ways, still an undiscovered gem. Servers are friendly and comfortable making menu recommendations. The wine list exceeds standard supermarket varieties, and if the owners are around, pairing suggestions are available.
Misses: First off, keeping the name. Too many people were soured by Larchmont Grill under the previous owners. It's hard to work your way back from that. Regarding those menu suggestions from servers, they're not always advisable. Remember the boring chicken panini referenced above? That was ordered based on such advice.

Insider Tips
ParkingThere are a handful of spaces available in the small lot in front of the restaurant. Otherwise, you'll need to search for street parking. Be sure to note all neighborhood restrictions--there are a lot of time limits and meters around.
When to GoVarious theme nights throughout the week offer dining deals such as Tuesday's half-price wine night, Wednesday's burger night and Sunday's family prix-fixe dinner.
What to DrinkThe wine list is impressive for a small place; selections include many from California but also Italian Proseccos, New Zealand Sauv Blancs and Spanish Albarinos. A small amount of beer is available as well, including Stella and Chimay.

I love this restaurant! Everyone in my office goes here when we have business lunches. Everything I've had here is great! I love the Spa menu. It was so much food and I didn't feel guilty about eating it all. I love the chicken & brown rice dish. It sounds so boring and I only ordered it because it sounded "Healthy" . I was amazed at how good healthy could taste. Their desserts are fabulous as well. They change them regularly. I've had the chocolate bread pudding (to die for) and also the carrot cake (Love it). The service is also amazing. I had my Birthday dinner there and they took such good care of us. They put us up stairs on the balcony. We had the whole place to our selves and our own waiter. Who was amazing! He actually ran to the store for us. I really can't say enough about how great the owners and all of the staff are. All of my friends were so impressed and love it so much that we are all going back.
Pros: Great service, food and ambience.
Cons: None

You must find the time to visit this restaurant!!! What make it so special is not only the variety and tastiness of its food, but the service. The aim, as we see it, of this restaurant , is to provide a family type environment with warmth and home style cooking. What takes this eatery to the next level is the pleasant addition and tastes of California style cooking. They go out to their way to provide an interesting menu that will bring you back, even if the fireplace isn't burning. We're extremely satisfied customers who aren't afraid to recommend Larchmont Grill to family and friends.
Pros: everything
Cons: none
