I visited Shawarma King and it was extremely delicious!

Hahaha. "Pardon me I had to laugh at that." - Jay-Z.. Yo, Wookie & lblady, I see what y'all doin to my homies over at Gumbolaya. That's pretty lame. I bet wookie & lblady are the same person. You say microwave bowls? You're an idiot. If you knew something about the food industry, they're called take out containers. Plus, there's an open kitchen, and you see everything going on inside when they make your order. That's my word. Anyways, enough about those two goons. But let me break it down to y'all what's really good at Gumbolaya. So check it, I work at Pinkberry's across the street. Been there since it opened. Come by and check us out for the best frozen yogurt y'all (shameless plug). Anyways, so almost everyday, I come by Gumbolaya to hang out, get some food, and surf the web on my laptop (I'm a student at CSULB holla!). Usually during my lunch, I come by and hangout by myself, or after work I come through with a couple co-workers or some friends from school (forget starbucks, college kids can hang out here). I haven't had the etoufee yet, so can't really speak on it. Let me tell you though, the jambolaya is off the chain! The gumbo is so damn good! TRUST. I love veggies in my soup (mama cooked chicken noodle the best!). What really got me hooked ( and I always get this during lunch break) is the Beignet's and Bayou Cooler. The cooler is refreshing and those Beignet's (powdered doughnuts) is addicting. Like pringles man, "bet you just can't eat one." Wookie, get real, the jambalaya there is bangin. I got a sausage or chicken in every scoop/bite of my meal. Rice is moist and soft, and full of spices. Microwave? You're a certified idiot, a LAME clown. Yo man, I can't stand haters talkin bout my peoples over at Gumbolaya. Pine Ave is like an extended fam, and you're a weasel, wookie/lblady. On the real, this place is great and fantastic for college students to come eat, chill, do hw/study. They give out free wireless internet man! Haters (or should I say hater) get a life! Jay-Z said it best. "What more can I say?!"

Pleasantful Experience. I work at the Trade Center very close by, and decided to stop by for dinner with a co-worker. Judging from the opinions I've read on here so far, I'd think there was something quite odd going on. Anywho, I have seen some people in the office order for deliveries, so I'd thought it would be interesting to inquire some info on what all the people at work were raving about. I ordered chicken & fries and a gumbo. My co-worker had the chicken jambalaya. Normally when I hear about a new restaurant (or trend), I have high expectations. Suprisingly, this one actually exceeded that, even after hearing so much talk about it at work. My friend seemed to enjoy the jambalaya, which looked very appealing. The chicken & fries were very delicious. Their secret "Mardi Gras" sauce gave my tastebuds a tangy twist. It's delicious! The portions they gave were huge, and I couldn't finished my gumbo so I got it to go instead. I think the other reviewers mistaked the bowl as being "microwavable" bowls, which was not true. The bowls have a lip to add a top on, which gives the convienence of people easily getting food to go if they cannot finish their food. Just snap on the top of the bowl, and you're good to go. Friendly environment, and was given complimentary beignets. These doughnuts are very addicting. The owner actually came up and chatted with me for a few minutes. This place is ideal for people who work around in the area, because they do deliveries. Together, our dinner came out to under $25. I find this place worth trying out. They have a beautiful mural painting inside of Downtown New Orleans that is very easy on the eyes. Great place to have a meal and read the newspaper. Complimentary beignet's for orders over $20 don't hurt neither! :)

Powdered sugar dough things- yummmmy. Stop eating junk in the movies and go to gumbolaya for benyays (sp) I don't know where 07/13 went to review their gumbo, but I went there (3rd time) jonesing for the powder sugared doughnut things, & they were CLOSED over memorial day weekend. I'm not a gumbo fan, hate okra, but they couldnt have been there when they said they were. Great place for quick food and not so quick coffee & dessert-

Not the best I've ever had. My husband I ate there last weekend, and I have to say it really was awful. My husband had the gumbo, and thought although bland it was passable. I had the jambalaya, and it was over cooked, and had very little flavor. I have to laugh at ?The Wookie?s? comment regarding micro waved food, because that is exactly what we thought when we were served. If it?s not micro waved, why do they serve it in frozen food bowls?

We will not ever go back, nor recommend it.

Great Food, Service, and Atmosphere. I enjoyed my experience at Gumbolaya. It is a great place to enjoy a great meal while feeling you are right in New Orleans. The service was prompt and very kind. I felt like I was a king. I was able to ask questions regarding the different food items. The Gumbo was excellent, making me want to come back for more. The powered donuts were even more delicious. I recommend Gumbolaya to anyone interested in greate food and friendly atmosphere.

I use to work with the_wookie (Mike) over at bubba gumps.. Our manager sent him over to give these guys a hard time. I know this because he tried to get me to go, even though I refused. This explains why I don't work there any more. That and the fact that I refused to cover the weekend shift when he messed up the schedule. Don't get me wrong, it was a cool place to work with cute girls, but the manager is a douch. ________________________________

All in all gumbolaya is pretty good. It beats our frozen and badly seasoned overpriced food. I tried it a couple of times when I went to the movies there and it was pretty good, better than I expected for fast food.

You have got to be kidding me.. This was the worse trash I have ever been served. The etouffe was more like a soup, and the jambalaya was 90% rice that was over cooked. I've been to LA many times, and these are by far my favorite dishes, but this was a joke. When I asked them if this was microwaved they said "NO". Then dont serve it in a thin plastic microwave bowl complete with the lip to remove the lid from freezer to microwave.

Great food and atmoshpere. Great food, great atmosphere and friendly service. Not to mention great coffee and beinet. As a student I wouldn't mind going there to study or just hang out for a bit. FREE internet is also a plus.

The food is still tastin' oh so good. Not sure what the "wookie" is talking about because I've been there several times and feel that the food is very good, especially at the price. I would expect fine glasses and utensils at a 5-star sit down restaurant, but you have to remember they're serving great food at very competitive prices.
