Best Vintage Furniture selection ever – I had to write about this company.
First their showroom is in this huge warehouse like store, and the structure alone is worth the trip.
BUT the best part is their selection-a trove of cool... the coolest salvage/vintage pieces ever.
I bought a Twenty Gauge desk and the finish was impeccable. Especially given the fact that these pieces are 50 + years old, the fact that they can get them to look so pristine is amazing. They also powdercoat - their people are VERY knowledgeable in all things vintage AND the best way to finish pieces. It shows.
I love my desk. Thank you.
Worst Retail Sales Experience EVER – i tried to give a no star review, but i had to choose one...
one star is more than Twenty Gauge deserves...
Twenty Gauge mishandled every aspect of my order...
i sent them a picture of what i wanted and after 3 attempts, and twice the amount of time they told me... they delivered furniture not worth a tenth of what i paid...
the supposed "polished steel" finish is awful. It looks like primer gray with sanding scratches all over it and looks nothing like the pictures on their website... they claimed that it was "hand sanding touches"... absolute nonsense... this was supposed to be professionally finished polished steel furniture, not the abomination they sent me...
i put down 50% on the order, and they were supposed to collect the remaining 50% after delivery... instead they charged me the full amount months before i even got the furniture... they basically knew that they mishandled every aspect of my order, and wanted to make sure that i could NOT get my money back, so they took the full amount and forced me to compromise and continue with my order, even when they could not give me what i was initially promised... i demanded a refund, they refused. i demanded a partial refund to have the furniture refinished properly... they also refused... i was forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau...
if you want details and/or the lengty email correspondence i had with Twenty Gauge and it's owner, i would be glad to send it to you... i just don't want anybody to be taken advantage of the way i was...
Avoid Twenty Gauge unless you want to get ripped off...
Great selection and best quality and service! Thanks! – I got a desk from Twenty Gauge. It was a gift for my girlfriend for her birthday, and they did a 3 color combination in less than 3 weeks, delivered to us in San Francisco, overnight and for $116 delivery only!
The crew is extremely friendly, professional and on it.
Thank you! Marlena loves her desk!
BEST SERVICE AND QUALITY - COMPLETE/OFF THE WALL/DIVERSE STOCK! GREAT VALUE!!!! – This Company is the best in terms of quality/service/affordability.
I shopped around a bit and even went to different stores looking for this Vintage Steel Furniture, and if I found Twenty Gauge's value by far the best:
-Largest selection (check their really extensive/cool one of a kind section on their website)
-Nicest staff, knowledgeable, with follow-thru and friendly. Not snooty, not "too" friendly, buddy-buddy. Just normal nice people who understand your needs and try to met them.
-Large on the floor ready to take with selection.
-Most complete and easy to use website (check all the PRESS!...everyone wrote about them!)
-Same or next day delivery on stock items-cheapest retail store delivery in town from my experience.
-They POWDERCOAT their pieces! It is a bit more difficult of a process yet according to their decade+ of experience, the only way to really prevent rust and that paint does not chip! Same process they paint GYM equipment with!
-Reasonnable lead times on special orders (they can even rush it but I did not say so!) 4 weeks or so, which is great for custom refinished antiques-they can mix and match steel + 15 colors!
They did not have the specific item I wanted on the floor, looked for it in their freshly arrived stock not on the site yet, shot a picture, gave me dimensions, and got the piece done to my VERY specific specifications (! - 6 colors) in less than 4 weeks and did not charge me a rush or extra custom fee...thanks guys!
This is why I am taking the time to write all this I rarely do this but they well deserve it!
Anyway, I highly recommend this store + they also have tons of one of a kind unfinished Architectural Salvage pieces + very cool Vintage Artwork, Graphics, Maps, etc...
A fun experience - tons of weird cool pieces!
+ they are in side HD Buttercup at the Helms Bakery. Another 50 vendors to shop with (two more vintage vendors- total of 15,000 sq ft of vintage they said), and the coolest building in town!
