Considered among the best coffee in LA, this was the first location outside of its native Chicago. Expect lots of laptops, creative types and lines out the door. The patio is the place to be.

Cute and hip, this Intelli location seems to be busier than the rest. If you can snag a seat the patio is lovely. Great lattes and a nice selection of iced tea for that rare occasion when you don't want their awesome coffee.

Tips for Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea

Great coffee in a great environment. I had heard a lot of buzz about the opening of Intelligentsia in Silver Lake. I finally got over to Sunset Junction one Friday night around 10pm, hoping for a refreshing respite from the typical stale/burnt taste of my local coffee chain. Next door, Cafe Stella was in full swing and the little covered patio outside the coffee shop was sparsely populated, with candles lit on every table. I got a cappuccino, which came out adorned in their signature "latte art" style in an actual coffee cup, not made out of paper. The coffee, the candle-lit patio, the Sunset Junction setting; everything was perfect! I loved the design and simple decor of the seating area, complete with red walls and blue and white tiled floors, and the baristas were very friendly and helpful. Inside they also sell beans by the bag as well as a nice selection of coffee makers and accessories. It was a great relaxing activity for a cold night and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good coffee in L.A.!
