In Short – A sparkling storefront opens into this cozy, hipster hole-in-the-wall. Hanging aluminum lamps illuminate a sage and tangerine interior; classic wooden tables and chairs bask in the front window'ssunshine where Eastsiders sip cinnamon coffees. Others hang at the long counter on high bar chairs facing the open kitchen. The meat-free Mexican vegetarian menu--in Spanish and English--features soy chorizo and eggs, soy cheese quesadillas, burritos, and tacos, garden veggie burgers, hearts of palm salad, and Mexican-style soy/wheat protein "meat" and "fish" entrees.

Highland Park is not known as a mecca for vegetarians. Cinnamon was the first to step up to the 'plate,' so as far as I'm concerned, they get 5 stars for that. However, their food is great and they have some very unusual offerings- stuff you don't usually find in a veggie restaurant like 'chicken' legs with mole and 'shrimp' and cactus cakes. The space is clean and bright and the staff is friendly. Love it!
