great place, rude service, very tasty fast food, authentic restaurants, delicious masala sauce, fast holy cow, not too heavy masala
good stuff!. This place was great. We were looking for a place that delivered (they charge $6 for delivery). We were really impressed. We ordered two dishes, nan, and a side of rice, only $26 after the extra delivery charge. Plenty of food and nice delivery person. We will definitely be eating here again! The chicken and potato curry was delicious.
HOLY COW !!!! like that.
HOLY COW !!!! love that name to start with . being there a couple of times and they get better and better . The best part is, in this time of our economy you can't beat their price , fast express service along with their quality of food. Recomend the Chicken Tikka Quesadilla and Lamb Vindaloo. Good lunch specials.
A complete value meal .Cheers "HOLY COW " >
The decor is nice and neat , with some very good pictures on the wall and it is one of the clean restaurants around that area. they keep it very clean n tidy >
Holy Cow !!! It is true...the best....quick serve Indian Cusine in LA. Holy Cow...it is what it is!!! I have been searching for the past three years for something like this...quick,good value...FRESH...Indian Cusine. The Mint Chicken and Papri-Chat. are very unique and very tasty....thank goodness I finally found you...after some research...I found out that this is a family run restaurant...they are brothers...also own the upsale version called Surya.-India....after more research...I found out that this restaurant.(Surya).had recenlty been awarded the Michelin Star for 2009!!! Holy Cow...this family has what it takes to survive a tough economy by offering a choice of two delicious restaurants... Please consider opening up any one of these in the Orange County area...I know it would be very welcome and a HUGH sucess!
Astonished this place ever gets a less than glowing review....
Live up the street from Holy Cow so have been 25+ times -- never once had a bad experience. The owners, brothers I believe, couldn't be more pleasant and appreciative of the business.
While the food admittedly isn't as cheap as some of the surrounding takeout (the likes of Subway, Souplantantion and Baja Fresh) it is very reasonable for the price point. Truth is, inexpensive Indian food concepts don't exist. They're ALWAYS more expensive -- even if you're lucky enough to make it to 6th St in the East Village, NYC where twenty some odd Indian restaurants are competing for business on the same block.
Holy Cow is clean, fast and tasty. Zero trans fats, a delicious but not too heavy masala sauce, and the lunch special's a steal.
Don't be dissuaded by the reviews that allude to poor service or foam plates -- do you really expect fine China in McDonalds too? -- Holy Cow bills itself as "express" Indian. And it delivers superbly on that. If you want frills, go to their sister restaurant Surya (sp?) several blocks down on 3rd.
Good Food, great neighbourhood take out. Just discovered this place, been in for lunch twice and dinner take out 3 times in less than 6 weeks . Love the lunch specials, good portions/ price/ tasty/ clean. Always been a good eating experience, love the Chicken Saag and the Aaloo Gobi. Only drawback no salad's
Very Bad Restaurant - Not Recommended. Bad restaurant on all levels - food, service, delivery, decor, parking, etc. Owner is clearly clueless too. Go if you want rude service and bad food.
Terrible - Stay Away!. Terrible restaurant.!!!! Don't waste your time. It will make you ill. Worst service ever. So many other better places. Hope this place fails so other better food vendor can take space!!!
TERRIBLE. Based on all the positive reviews, I had to check it out. They charge the same as a fine sit down authentic restaurant, but stuff is served up in a cafeteria style setting on foam plates, bowls and plastic utensils. I felt upset we spent $30 for dinner for two, the service was lousy, the food mediocre and the portions very small. They charge $8.95 for grilled chicken tikka. There were only 4 pieces of breast meat, on sliced red onions sitting in butter/oil with half the place with a watered down chutney sauce. Same goes for the Aloo Gobi. The amt of Nan was enough for only 1 person. I spilled a coke, there was no offer to help wipe up the table. When I asked for a napkin the counter girl looked annoyed she had to give me another napkin. I suspect the cooks in the back were Hispanic and not of Indian origin, which translated into the non-authentic taste of the food.
what a find.... While conducting Business in LA, came across Holy Cow ( Indian Food ). I asked for the Mint Chicken lunch special. Besides the value my lunch was great. The curry was spiced to perfection. Place was very clean and the owner I think could not have been nicer. Only drawback no hot chai.--- We need one in San Diego , until than Holy Cow is on my visit again list.
HOLY COW!!!! GREAT INDIAN!!!.
My fiance and I are "down on our knees" thankful for Holy Cow. We can't go a single week without take out from the Cow. I have many Indian friends and the food at Holy Cow takes me back to the meals prepared at their family gatherings.
The food is flavorful. The masala is rich and tangy, but not too heavy. The channa is outstanding - with chick peas that are plump, but not undercooked. Most vegetable dishes are combined with meats to yield great combinations of different textures and tastes. I recommend the chicken sag in particular.
The restaurant is not particularly geared towards eating in, but I would suggest trying its sister restaurant Surya for a great "dining" experience. Holy Cow, on the other hand, fills a void that I have never seen serviced anywhere else: Indian food for the masses...fairly priced, tasty, fast delivery / take out Indian, made fresh to order.
I hope more people "worship" the Cow, the concept catches on and we see more of these pop up around town.
