Bad Concept, Bad Food..
What a shame. This little cafe lies just across the street from Pasadena City College and its a great location. The decor is a mish mash of NY and Philly, its really a comfy place with flat screens in every corner. However the menu is a scitzophrenic combination of Mexican and Italian items and its just worth the effort to try to figure out why.
This is cheap, cheap processed food and I have no doubt that its mostly frozen and canned. Its so sad that so much money and effort is being put up to serve food that can be had at the freezer section at any supermarket. The menu is huge, confusing and nothing goes together. They serve exotic meats like alligator but its chewy and flavorless just like their regular meat items. They advertise wood fired pizzas but its clear that its a trick (the oven is clearly visible from the counter), where's the wood? Just one taste will also confirm that something is wrong. The dough is wafer thin and looks like a kid made it for cooking in an Easy Bake Oven.
The food is institutional at best and is the very reason for the growing Slow food movement in the U.S. and the reason that Chefs like Gordon Ramsey who stress the importance of fresh food are so popular.
