They're Back and Better Than Ever - Camp Plenty Location.
Just after Thanksgiving 2005, a fire destroyed the Camp Plenty location of Don Cuco. In mid-2006 they opened back up and it's better than ever.
The decor is great: strong leather furniture with chunky wood, decor straight from Mexico and an overall rustic look that really suits the place.
The bar is in its own room with an adjacent patio. We almost always eat in the bar unless we have kids in our party. All our favorite people are back and Jose makes a mean margarita. If you want one that really packs a whallop, order the melon margarita.
The menu has been revised and I do miss the monthly specials, but the quesadilla (al carbon) is a real winner as is the flan for dessert. I recently had a house salad (with cilantro-jalapeno dressing) and a bowl of the tortilla soup and vow to have that again next time. Both were great.
The bar is stocked with about 6 flat screen TVs so it's a great place to watch a good game. The restaurant is equally nicely decorated and seats large parties comfortably. As if that' s not enough, there's also a separate banquet room that's frequently in use. I've never eaten in there but snuck in for a couple of peeks and can note that the decor is consistent with the rest of the place.
Service in the bar (unless you're sitting AT the bar) can be a little dicey but it's still worth going there
