The Best Cupcakes in the Valley.
Big Sugar makes absolutely the yummiest cupcakes around. I do fancy myself a bit of a cupcake fanatic, and have driven to the corners of the city trying different cupcakes, and this is a great bakery within just a few minutes from my house. I just love that!

Great customer service, awesome cupcakes & cute lil spot.
I tried "Big Sugar" because I had a horrible experience up the street at "My little Cupcake" now I love cupcakes, white cake, yellow cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cake...you catch my drift? Well after a fantastic lunch date with my friend, we both wanted cupcakes OKAY well I did! So we headed over to "my little cupcake" for 5 bucks I got two dry a%$ cupcakes that very well could have been from a year ago...I am NOT kidding they were horrible...so after my desert was ruined! My friend suggested " BIG SUGAR" well...... what a f***ing difference! From the customer service, to the bakery selection, to the lay out of the customer waiting area, to the FREE coffee...what more can I say I had an amazing experience! The cupcakes we had were moist, delicious, fresh and served up with a big smile. Please don't waste your energy OR TIME OR more importantly money at " My little cupcake" they suck. GO to BIG SUGAR! You won't regret it!I Love them

BAD Customer Service.
Went in there to buy a cake or some cupcakes for a party and they acted as though I was asking if I could borrow the owners mercedes. "Um, you need to order in advanced" or "I don't know" or "I don't know" . How about can I just buy whats there then? "Um what?" As I am going through all of this the owner was drinking a glass of wine with her friends or customers and completely ignoring the problem at the counter! will NEVER go back!

Adorable and yummy.
This is one of my favorite bakeries in the LA area. Their chocolate cake is especially moist, and their signature buttercream frosting is exceptional- not to light or sweet, like buttercream tends to be. Their cupcakes are fairly basic, but they are not afraid to try new flavors and the results are unfailingly elegant and refined. The vanilla cake is prone to dry out and the chocolate frosting is a little too sweet for me personally, but the brownies and lemon bars and terrific. A lot of the shop is devoted to non-edibles, but the atmosphere is adorable and the baked goods hold their own. Oh, and the donut muffin is a thing of beauty.

A great place to stop if you want to bring something to a dinner party..
Big Sugar Bakeshop is the best place to stop if you don't have a clue what to bring to a party. I needed a large tray of assorted things and they offered to cut their delicious brownie bars in half, placed them decoratively on a platter and tied it with a beautiful satin bow. I also picked up an inexpensive hostess gift and card. I love cupcakes and their cupcakes are so fresh and the frosting is done just right so you can taste the cake. I have never been disappointed.

Maybe it was an off day, but....
I'm willing to believe I went on an off day so will re-visit Big Sugar again, but this much-ballyhooed shop was a let down. It felt like 75% of the floor space was dedicated to non-edibles: Cards, tees, aprons, teacups, plates, etc. Cute stuff, but isn't this a bakeshop? I didn't smell anything warm baking when I walked in, and though the employees were friendly, the owner(s) seemed focused only on intensely straightening displays and herding (rather loud) children around the store. I walked away with the impression that this is a vanity shop for a couple of bored wives who want to bring their kids to work rather than a true baker's fullfilment of a passionate dream. Scones were too soft, brownies were more fudgy than cake-y (cake-y's my preference), but the famed doughnut muffin was exceptionally good.

A cute experience.
My group headed to this vintage Studio City bakery to try their cupcakes but found ourselves enjoying their shop and viewing their girly trinkets and kitchen gadgets as much. They have daily cupcake specials including, Pure Vanilla, Belgian Chocolate, Red Velvet, Double Coconut, Hummingbird, Lemon, Ice Box and more. Instead of using butter cream, they make their own light whipped cream icing, which I liked since I'm not big on sweet icing. They also had free sample minis available with fun sprinkles on them. Although I'm usually a vanilla fan, my favorite here was their Icebox Cupcake, which is chocolate cake with chocolate ganache on top and whipped cream inside, which kept it from being too rich. They also offer free coffee, water and provide great customer service.

Amazing confections.
This place is a true gem. Selfishly, I hope it doesn't become 'popular' so I can keep it for my own. :-) Truly, the cupcakes and other baked goods are yummy (try the doughnut muffin in the morning). In addition, the other gourmet and seasonal items in the shop are wonderful finds. Stop by and fall in love like I did.

Exceptional!.
Big Sugar's cupcakes aren't the overrated kind I've been finding everywhere but Sprinkles - these are yummy in their own right and not overpriced. Their Red Velvet cake is *to die for*, and I can reccomend just about every baked product they sell. They've also got a wonderful selection of tea, confectionary and gifts - all in all, Big Sugar is a really fun place to go!
