What People Are Saying About Lemon Grass Vietnamese Restaurant

Featured Review

In Short – Next to Eagle Rock's popular Coffee Table, this stylish, airy Vietnamese eatery adds refined Asian charm. Moss, olive and cream tones are punctuated with modern glass lamps, pretty paintings, stone Buddhas, lotus and bamboo. A local mixed artsy crowd sips Vietnamese coffees, while noshing onchicken salad with cabbage and mint, shrimp spring rolls, beef sauteed with lemongrass, and shredded tofu and sweet potatoes over rice. Six types of pho noodle soup are offered, as well as banh mi sandwiches.

Editor's Tips

Parking:
After close of business, patrons are welcome to park in the American Tire lot half a block west on Colorado.
Know Before You Go:
Unlike many traditional Vietnamese joints, this kitchen offers vegetarian versions of its spring rolls, egg rolls, sandwiches and rice and noodle dishes.
What to Drink:
Strong French Vietnamese coffee is a traditional pick me up, but there are also cool, refreshing drinks like young coconut juice, fresh orange juice and fresh soybean milk.

The name Lemon Grass fits the food!

by braccablue

We heard about lemon grass from friends so we thought we would give it a try. WRONG!!! When we walked through the door we noticed the tacky looking tables. We thought " what the heck." Let's give it a try. It took 20 minutes for someone to wait on us. Not even a glass of water was offered. I looked down at the floor and there was grease everywhere.

When they finally took our order the waiter was kind of rude. Then when he brought the food I felt I was getting an appetizer instead of an entree. You know they make a fortune on the noodles and broth! The pho' tasted like left overs. There was no taste in the broth. The glasses had water spots. This meal was not worth the money. I work in the film industry and will make sure any one i know will stay away from this place. Sorry for this review but I got a little sick after leaving. This resturant should get a c or d rating. Yuk!

Great Food but Not Enough!

by HunterLee

I simply loved the food but would have rather have seen a more generous portion. Great atmosphere and service with a smile. I went for lunch which make all the difference in terms of portion size but I was amazingly impressed with the tomato fried rice and the quick to the table feature. Would recommend that if you're dinning at lunch time, do arrive before 12 noon because I did and the place was packed by the time I left. GREAT PLACE TO EAT!! TRY IT!!!

  • Pros: Great food
  • Cons: Would like to see a more generous portion

Poor Service

by smileymetoo

The food is just okay. Service was definitely a disappointment. The restaurant did have a sign that said "help wanted". I can see why. There were only two waitresses on a Saturday evening and both seemed like they could use some training on providing service or a change in their shift because neither one of them looked like they wanted to be there. They weren't very friendly or service-oriented. For my meal, I ordered the egg roll for appetizer to share with my friend. The waitress that brought the food to our table had a flat affect on her face and didn't even say a word to us. She just put down the food and walked away. It would have been nice to have been asked if we needed some side plates so we had to get the attention of our server. For my main dish, I ordered Chicken salad that was suppose to have a "house" vinaigrette dressing, but the flavor was very bland and when asked for additional dressing, the waitress brought out a small dish of white distilled vinegar. Not very special for a "house" dressing. During our meal, the waitress never checked in with us to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Before we were finished with our meal, the waitress gave us our check without even asking if we wanted anything else and she reached across my plate to stick the bill in an empty spot on the table, which I found quite rude. I'm definitely not going back and I would not recommend this place.

  • Pros: Pleasant decor
  • Cons: Poor service

OK Vietnamese food, but...

by Professor814

OK, I don't mean to be mean, but the food at this restaurant was average at best. I've been to many other Vietnamese restaurants who have more creative menus and superior dishes. But average food AND crummy service? Not a good combo. We ordered the chicken salad and were having a tough time tasting the dressing; when we asked for additional dressing, the waitress brought us a bowl of plain, straight vinegar. Hmmm, interesting. Ummmm... When we asked for a second small bottle of mineral water the waitress said they were all out, yet the two waitresses each had a bottle of Perrier while they ate at the bar adjacent to our table.

When we thanked one waitress for bringing our meals there was no response and the second waitress shoved the bill in front of our face before we were finished eating, but that was OK because she never did ask how our meal was, if we'd like anything else, or if we were even finished.

This was our first time at Lemongrass and it may be our last. if you have a restaurant with average food, great service will keep people coming back. Unfortunately, an unprofessional staff will only turn patrons away.

  • Pros: Nice atmosphere and the place looks good.
  • Cons: Unprofessional serving staff.

Always delicious!

by october21

This place is great, it is so affordable and the food is always delicious. I recommend the Vietnamese Vegetarian rolls for an appetizer (#8) and the Pho or Noodles. I have been here at least 30 times, i pretty much go every week. In response to the negative review i will say i have NEVER experienced bad service at this restaurant. Also, this person has clearly never been a waiter. Having been a waitress i can tell you that your waiter probably forgot to put your order in, thats why everyone god food before you. It happens, with no disrespect to you, just an accident. This restaurant has delicious food and a great atmosphere, dont pass it up!

  • Pros: price, food!
