Editorial Review for Sugar – by Alison Kramer
In Short
As intimate as it is opulent, this lounge/dance club epitomizes the Cahuenga Corridor's promoter-centric, velvet rope exclusivity. Inside, Brazillian cherry wood floors and upholstered leather couches impart a certain dark allure. Rock-candy wall fixtures and plasma TVs preserve a tinseltown twinkle that the glitzy crowd craves. With a DJ-manned dance floor, an intimate smoking room, and a lounge littered with private bottle-service tables, there is no shortage of places to see, be seen, or slip into closed conversation with a new best friend.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoGuest lists are de riguer here, but it's not as strict as some of the other places in the area. Find out whose promoting and sign up. Stylishly dressed women shouldn't have a problem getting in. Guys are advised not to show up in packs. Bottle service is always recommended.
What to DrinkFor a sweet treat, try the "Sugar High" cocktail, a concoction of creme de cacao, blue curacao, watermelon schnapps and creme de banana.

First of all the club is a JOKE! $40 dollars to park at the door, $20 for regular Valet. I went on Saturday night. It was an URBAN CLUB (whatever). The free before 10:30 another Joke. Got there and stood in line until 10:35. Bouncers were cool but the Manager and URBAN Promoter(s) were rude and horrible. If you are a woman who is Too Curvy, Large and In Charge or whatever they call it these days, don't bother trying to go here. They will not let you in and will stop you before you get out of the car. Urban men should realize that women come in ALL Shapes and sizes. Also, if you are looking for men, ladies, they control the line and the door so hard that I saw few men. Saw a bunch of women. The balance is very bad. I don't get dressed up to look at women. My friends and I, who actually made it in the club were very disappointed. Sugar is not so sweet.
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything

well after reading all the reviews below me I am not surprised at all. this was the same owner of Pearl which is now closed and for good reason he also owns Sunset Beach which also gets a bad rap, and this hole Sugar. He also has a film production company that leaves cast and crew stranded on deserted islands when they run out of money halfway through filming to fend for themselves to get back home. I definetly can see a trend here and thats bad business, bad people, bad karma................
