Editorial Review for Best Fish Taco in Ensenada – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Inside Hillhurst's playful tiki hut, delicious, golden-fried and grilled seafood tacos are doled out by an exceedingly friendly waitstaff. A painted mural covers the back wall, featuring an underwater scene splattered with sparkling multi-colored tiles and small fish. Condiments like the standard crema, rarities like "hot guac," and mango and radish salsa are served in faux white seashells, which customers scoop up as they head out to the patio. Los Feliz locals come here primarily for lunch, casually clad, lining up for made-to-order fish and shrimp tacos.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoCheap made-to-order tacos are served inside a small tortilla with your choice of meat, and the condiment bar--to the left of the main counter--is chockfull of enough condiments to make a meal out of one. This place is really delicious! They keep it simple... Fish Tacos $1.50... Shrimp Tacos $2.00... Can of Soda $1.00 (tax included). Tacos are made fresh-to-order and you build your own taco with various salsas and condiments ranging in spiciness. My personal favorite is the shrimp taco but you really can't go wrong with either. I always seem to start with 2 tacos thinking that will be enough but can't help going back for a third. If you enjoy fish tacos, you are going to LOVE these!!
Pros: Price, Taste, Quick Eat
Cons: Street Parking

This place is such a gem! I had been walking/ driving by this place for about a year always assuming it was sub par and rolling my eyes at the fact the the name is so lame, when finally it came up in a conversation I was having with someone and they raved about it. I have it a try considering it was only a few blocks from my place. Upon entering I noticed that it had sort of a fun little island feel, nothing that would make me rave about the ambience, but simple and yet charming. The menu, which only appears above the register is refreshingly simple stating: Fish.....$1.50 Shrimp......$2.00 Drink.......$1.00 Thats it, nothing fancy, nothing creative just simple and delicious fish taco's made to order, battered and fried in front of you through a glass pane and embellished by you at the great little salsa bar complete with cabbage, several types of salsa ranging in temp and ingredients from pineapple to mango, radish relish, and "crema magica" as they like to call it which I think is just sour cream. There is nothing other than soda and horchata to drink, but they have a lovely little corkage policy.... you can BYOB as long as you give one to the guy working the register. And with a liquor store a half a block away, you can't beat that. Its a fantastic way to spend part of a hot afternoon at the simple patio furniture in front under umbrellas and misters. The tacos are small but for $1.50 you can keep ordering them with the change between the couch cushions.
