Editorial Review for Skinny's Lounge – by Whitney Friedlander
In Short
The chocolate brown wood exterior makes this lounge stand out against the appliance stores and auto dealers on this end of Lankershim. Inside, a mix of after-work revelers and a pre- and post-theater crowd hang near the long wooden bar that snakes through the main room, or gather on charcoal-gray leather chairs against the burnt orange walls. A dance floor near the back puts the DJ or the change dropped into he jukebox to good use.

Insider Tips
Look GoodThose seeking more privacy can inquire about the VIP room behind the dance floor. Just make sure there's not a band that night--that area doubles as a stage.
What to DrinkPlenty of top shelf spirits line the bar area, but house cocktails like the Skinny Bastard, (Jack Daniels, sweet and sour, pomegranate liquor and soda) or the "Dr. No"-inspired Skinny Bond are increasingly popular. Note that the Bond is stirred, not shaken.

Skinny's is a really cool, Modest bar/lounge in NOHO. Great looking room, dark setting but with great se$y lighting.a dance floor (on the small side) but doesn't k!ll the party, a VIP party room, love the friendly bar tenders but cant stand the door men. Cool music (DJ & Jukebox and I think occassional live acts) and good pours. My good friend DJ's Thursday nights for 80's night...well worth it. Best of all, it's in stumble home distance to my house. I'll be back. although this past saturday night was a let down..it was one my girlfriends birthday and half our party waited for an hour just to leave.
Pros: DJ, Drinks, and people
Cons: line at the door

There's no cover and plenty of parking behind a motel. It's really easy to get to and crowded. My only complaint is the music. Since this is dance club, I've got to talk about the music. They will play mostly old school music on a Saturday night, mix in a few current rock or hip hop hits, and then go right back to old school Michael Jackson. I can't stand it. You want the party to be hoppin'? Take some lessons from the current L.A. radio stations (Power 106, Kiis FM) and play that stuff. Not this old school mess. I'm sick of it. Oh and depending on the night you go, they may or may not have tap water for you to drink. They may say they don't have any and then try to sell you super expensive bottled Fiji water for like $4 or $5.
Pros: no cover, free parking
Cons: music, sometimes make you pay for bottled water
