What People Are Saying About The Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant

In Short – Under the direction of chef Matthew Gladstone, who has previously transformed menus at the Mint and the Formosa, this venture promises to up the kitchen ante from its former incarnation as part of the Acapulco chain. Expect a mix of thin crust pizza, Italian sandwiches and eclectic small plates. The food is only a small part of the scene--a big portion of the 10,000-plus square feet is all about drinking, and nightly entertainment ranges from karaoke to '80s cover bands.

Editor's Tips

Save Money:
A drink wheel figures prominently here. Customers are chosen at random to spin the wheel, and whatever cocktail it lands on is discounted for everyone for the next hour, after which another guest spins for savings.
Know Before You Go:
Happy Ending is open daily from 9am to 2am during football season.

  4. have been to happy ending a few times and I have enjoyed it, it's a fun place.

  6. The wheel of drink specials are great fun and value.
  7. I've been wanting a place in Hollywood where I can go and get good food, fun atmoshpere & a cold beer.

  1. shouldnt have to eat my food at the bar next to dirty plates that were left for about 40 minutes while this clueless bartender talked to her friend the whole time!
  2. It had a great crowd, good music and the pizza was the best I've had in L.A. I thought it would take forever to get a drink considering how many people were in there, but they had like 8 guys behind the bar waiting to take orders.
  3. Love to go to the clubs now and then but still want a watering hole where you can go in jeans and a t-shirt, throw back some beers and cocktails and listen to some solid tunes amongst a great crowd.
  4. the bar was cool and semi mellow, however, if you arent a sports bar, why is every TV on sports?
  5. do not recommend this bar, especially not on a Saturday night.
  6. As a former bar manager maybe I am a little tougher than most but this place is honestly the worst bar I have been to in Hollywood - and that is saying a lot.
  7. They have really outdone themselves with their food, the atmosphere is fun and relaxed and they have great drink specials all night long.
  8. If you don't realize that The Happy Ending is the most amazing and enthusiastic bar Hollywood has seen, then you deserve to suffer through the lines and bullsh*t at Le Deux.
  9. The wheel of drink specials are great fun and value.
  10. Great food / great bar!
  11. The food was fabulous, the drinks were priced well and they were constantly spinning their drink wheel (you should see it!)
  12. The menu is too expensive for a sports bar although it is pretty GOOD.
  13. My new favorite bar!
  14. I've been wanting a place in Hollywood where I can go and get good food, fun atmoshpere & a cold beer.
  15. This place has one of the best menus for a sports bar that I have seen on the west coast hands down.
  16. best new bar in Hollywood
  17. When i walk into a sports bar,I usualy want chicken wings and a Stella, but that takes too long at"The Happy Ending

  19. always looking for a good sports bar.
  20. For being a bar in Hollywood, the food is amazing!
  21. But, when the bill came we were surprised to have been charge full price for the 3 drinks and $11 for the salad.
  22. Note to manager - audio means little in sports, but good conversation over beers and a ball game means a lot.
  23. The menu is pretty good considering it is a sports bar.
  24. It was definitely more mellow but the food, service, drinks and prices were all great.
  25. When you go to a sports bar you want to see a great variety of teams, sports, athletes etc, not some gift shop BS of subway signs.
  26. Anyway, I liked this bar so much I went back to watch a college basketball game the next week.
  27. Apparently, that main rude bouncer was not only head doorman, but manager of the whole bar.
  28. Oh yeah - offer some reasonable bar food.
  29. great drinks and all at a pretty affordable and justifiable price.
  30. The doorman was rude, and the female bartenders upstairs kept skipping me to fill drinks for guys and flirt for tips to the point where it took 30 minutes to get a single drink.
  31. Get rid of these morons that want to "PLAY" manager and rehire a good waitstaff and bar staff so that the front of the house wont ruin a good thing!
  32. Happy Endings is going to have to rely on people getting drunk at the bar and staring at the servers short shorts, cause everything else is a disappointment.
  33. good drinks and appetitzers and GREAT corey-oke band
  34. They have a big roulette wheel which was hot because the drinks were really cheap for an hour or so.
  35. Great bar food!
  36. and the place feels like a cool dive bar, but we loved that.
  37. What A great bar!
  38. Really great layout/concept for the bar.
  39. Not one bartender recognizes us ever, we are charged for every single drink that we order every time we go and for Happy Ending that means $40 for a tiny glass of vodka and soda and two Jagerbombs.

  11. For being a bar in Hollywood, the food is amazing!
  12. They serve it with a creamy tomato soup which is good for dipping.
  13. We ordered 2 appetizers (the onion rings and the "fish and chips" which were both great) and purposely ordered our meals about 25 minutes later.
  14. The food was bad, the server was not nice, it wasn't a good time.
  15. When i walk into a sports bar,I usualy want chicken wings and a Stella, but that takes too long at"The Happy Ending

  20. actually found a place that puts fresh spinach on pizza in L.A.!
  21. While the food is certainly interesting and pretty decent for the most part, it's pricier than most sports bars.
  22. But, when the bill came we were surprised to have been charge full price for the 3 drinks and $11 for the salad.
  23. decent food, but there are better options in Hollywood.

  14. shouldnt have to eat my food at the bar next to dirty plates that were left for about 40 minutes while this clueless bartender talked to her friend the whole time!
  15. People are also really friendly here.
  16. Yet its run by a bunch of donkeys and a management staff that in all fairness,is about as knowledgeable as Hellen Keller in a spelling bee!
  17. staff acted like they hated management, and for good reason, there was a big dumb looking manager type yelling at one of the red pant suit wearing waitresses.

Nice.

My favorite dinner here is the pork chop, no matter how the cook it. It changes every month. In the months they don't have the pork chop the pork shoulder is a good consolation.

You Gotta Go!!

by mjr16295

“I love this place. I would definitely recommend it to all mature crowds. The Bar is great! The servers are very friendly. There is a BIG college crowd on the weekends and around Basketball and Football season the place is filled with sports fans! The crowd is very upbeat! There is a mix on the weekdays of college students, everyday people, and business people from the local office buildings. The food is great! there is a mixture of everything. From Catfish to Hamburgers! They keep the place very clean and the food once again is just amazing! And drink service is great! I never mind leaving a tip!!”

The place was packed with cuties

by jonwiehle

The moment i walked in here i felt like i was back in college, beer pong going on, pitchers of beer and frat guys everywhere. The place was packed with cuties and i would say the ratio was pretty good. The bartenders serve fast which i liked, got a round of shots for the guys. Upstairs they have beer pong tables and it has a big following.

Ridiculous, stereotyping, racist frat party

by Steph818

This place is run by a racist, pretentious pr*ck. I went last night (sat.) for a friend's birthday party.. My bf was wearing a long sleeve polo collared shirt and fitted jeans with a belt -- and they did not let us in. Mind u we saw several ppl coming in and out with baggier pants than him and even shorts! When we pointed this out the bouncer just shrugged his shoulders and said that he wasn't at the door when they came in. Mind you there is NO DRESS CODE ON THEIR WEBSITE and when u call the # it's just a recording. However the fat disgusting bouncer checking IDs at the door said that my bf looked "unpresentable," right as someone in shorts is walking out and some guy with huge pants is walking in. The army of douch* bag bouncers that post up in front of this sports bar -turned beer pong "night club"- claim that the manager is watching everyone that comes in and gives them a yes or no (racial profiling) they also said that the manager does not come out and talk to anyone (he's a little b*tch, a puss). This place is 90% whites, 5% asian, and 5% other. This place is a ridiculous frat party full of as*holes.
