If you are looking for excellent service, my recommendation is run to see Angie at Shampu. I read the reviews here and that made me schedule an appointment. Angie is really professional, and has the gift of listening to the client. She has a great personality and makes you feel comfortable right away. I have curly

hair which is not easy to tame, she did an awesome job with it. I was suffering from a bad haircut and had a multicolor head, she corrected both problems. The end result, I love my hair again. If you have curly hair like I do, she is the person to see!

Shampu Rocks!

I have always had difficult hair. It is curly and course and very hard to manage. I have fought the frizzies my entire life. For years I would straighten my hair with flat irons, used harsh chemical relaxers, you name it I have tried it on my hair. I never was able to find a stylist that could help me find an easy way to style my hair. Most hairstylists have always just blown out my hair straight or flat ironed it causing me to always have high maintenance hair. I finally was referred to Angie at Shampu in Long Beach. I was soooo happy to hear her say she could show me some easy techniques to style my hair curly without it being frizzy or left with the wet crunchy moussed look. Angie was the first stylist who actually was interested in my curl and wearing it curly... and the styling tips she gave me worked out perfectly. I have embraced my curl for the first time in my life and it takes me only 10 minuted or so to style my hair.. AND I don't have the wet crunchy look either!! Finally I have the hair that I have always wanted and I can thank Angie at Shamu for showing me the way. My cuts are perfect, which as a person with curly hair finding a good hairstylist who can cut curly hair properly is extremely difficult. I am a lifetime client now. Go to Shampu and ask for Angie, she truly is awesome!

Not quite so terrific

I went to Angie based on stellar reviews here and elsewhere. Sadly, my experience was very disappointing. I tried her services 3 different times so this wasn't a one-time bad day. As far as color, I felt like some sort of ginea pig. Each time there were multiple processes, obviously pretty damaging to my hair. She never bothered to write down any of the formulas, so each time she had to start over. First time, orange - 2nd time good - third time green. Oh, and she was late for every appointment and never stopped talking from the moment she walked in. Forget about letting her cut your short hair, this is definately not her speciality. She's used to cutting men's short hair and that's what I ended up looking like. Did I mention I was growing my hair out?!!?!? Beware!
