Passage through time. I accidentally stumbled in (sober) to this bar on my way through town to Juanita's for a show. I thought it was The York and did not look at the sign. I walked in and there was a free barstool right in front of me and a Laker game on the tele. Immediately, I was greeted by a bartender (Rachael)and warmly introduced to the bars ammenities and history and then served a cold PBR. Everyone was friendly, some a little too much, but it gave the joint a good vibe. I wanted to stay, but had to get to my destination, which turned out to be a whole other story. ummm smells funny. It's a place I'd like to go and hang out w/ a big crowd. The place has a great look ,......but it smells funny. I've been there twice but have only hung out for 1 drink and just leave,...I con't feel very comfortable there.

Old time locals get a dose of new-school flavor with the reopening of this cool dive in Highland Park..
In Short
After closing its doors 25 years ago, this local's favorite is back with dive-y flavor, comfortable furnishings and a pool table. The owners, who wanted to maintain the design of the namesake original, serve up old school hits, along with eight beers on tap. A retro jukebox sits in the back, pumping out a variety of songs from the '50s and 60's, along with more modern tracks. Johnny's old friends still frequent the place, and are now joined by Occidental students and neighborhood locals.
