In Short – Twenty-one stories above downtown L.A., the breathtaking nighttime cityscapes here feel like a movie set they're so dramatic. One corner of this dynamic penthouse patio is a sleek, sultry open-air lounge which flows into the mod, sophisticated dining room. The scene buzzes with mixed groups of suits and well-heeled downtowners. The menu features a full high-end sushi and robata grill bar; specialty dishes include lobster dynamite, daikon foie gras, Chilean sea bass and Angus filet mignon.

My girlfriend took me out to Takami for a nice occasion for a dinner. It is a very nice place with a very cool ambience. If you sit by the window you can oversee alittle bit of LA, but mostly the financial district buildings of downtown. So if you come there with a date, I would def recommend sitting on the outside patio by the window, very cool vibe. Nice decor, some music playing in the background, very hip place.
As far as food, a few dishes we tried were delicious. Spicy Tuna on crisply rice is a great appetizer, very tasty. Also we got, penthouse roll - very good, and I got Grilled Salmon in teriyaki sauce - it was melting in my mouth, great dish. And miso soup and edamame, same as everywhere. Some people were saying their portions are small, but I would have to disagree. Their sushi rolls are about 8 pieces, and appetizer and entree very good sized portions. I had Takami 10 coctails, very tasty and on the strong side.
Price was not bad either, its pricey but not on the very expensive side. Our bill for the above order came out to 80 bucks before tip, which is not bad at all, and we were full. So if you come here to enjoy a nice light (meaning not stuffing yourself out) dinner, it will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Service was very good as well, waitress was fast and very attentive. Elevate lounge next door is nothing special, just your basic hollywood type lounge, with dj spinning top 40 (which I dont care for too much). Hostess at Takami was kinda bitchy as far as getting us to the Elevate, she kept saying shes waiting for a club manager to come out and give us tickets, which never happened, i think she was just bs'ing. But my GF worked her around that by asking a security guy at the club while i was in the restroom. Very good maneuvre by her. So anyways, I would def recommend Takami Sushi, for nice dinner and to enjoy the vibe and atmosphere. Worth the visit at least once
- Pros: great vibe and atmosphere, very good food, not overcrowded
- Cons: not a great surrounding area

Lunch or dinner Takami is the place to be if you’re downtown Los Angeles. With multiple kitchens providing traditional Japanese dishes to Sushi to the Robata Bar there is something for everyone in your party. Do you have someone at your table that just can’t get the idea of raw fish past their nose? Try the Robata Bar! The baby lamb chops are out of this world. A skewer of Chilean Sea Bass is cooked to buttery perfection.
Sushi lover? In addition to tradition sushi rolls Takami has some of the best signature rolls in town! The Takami Roll is probably my favorite with Spicy Tuna, Snow Crab, Asparagus and Albacore drizzled with Apple Ponzu Sauce. The Sashimi is always fresh and sliced in healthy size pieces. Don’t forget the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice or the Tropical Avocado Bowl. Yum!
The servers and managers go out of their way to complete the experience. You can sit and never be rushed out of your table or you can let them know you are limited for time and every effort is made to accommodate your schedule.
Nice folks! Great Food! Beautiful restaurant!
It’s a great experience and a fun place to take out-of-towners too.
Enjoy!
- Pros: Something for everyone

This is one of our favorite restaurants - a quick lunch or a long lunch, can be had. The food is always fresh and good, service is always attentive and accomodating.
We go there for many business lunches because it is always reliable for good food and service. It is filled with people, yet quiet enough to have a conversation without shouting.
They have a great variety of cooked and raw dishes, so everyone can enjoy something.
The "long lunch" crowd can enjoy some interesting wines and Sakis sitting and staring at the great view of Los Angeles (on a clear day). On a warm enough day, the patio is a fine place to dine and enjoy the sunshine.
- Pros: great view, attentive service, fresh and creative fish
