In Short – Ladies who lunch come to soak up the sun on the long glassed-in patio compete with a built-in waterfall in one wall. The daytime menu's California-inspired cuisine ranges from ahi tuna melts to black mussels with white wine. At night, the chocolate-accented interior's overstuffed mint chairs offer a cozy place for date-nighters and business diners to enjoy short rib risotto, thyme-roasted halibut, or nightly specials like scallops in kumquat-citrus sauce.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- Stop in for Sunday brunch from 10:30 am to 2 pm for live jazz and the $29 set menu of luxuries like lobster caviar hash and grilled portobello mushroom Benedict.
- Parking:
- The restaurant and lounge area will validate for three hours of valet, bringing the cost to a negligible amount.
- What to Drink:
- The wine list focuses on California wines like pricey Opus One, and a small selection of global picks. Prices start at $8 for glasses; bottles go from reasonably priced to expense-accounting. Corkage is $15.
- The Extras:
- Easter Brunch featuring: A made-to-order egg station, French crepes, waffles, blueberry pancakes, a carving station with leg of lamb, honey roasted ham, roasted salmon and other sides, smoked salmon, smoked swordfish, shrimp cocktail, King Crab legs, artisan breads, bagels, pastries, cookies, cakes, a salad bar, and refreshments including champagne, Mimosas, Bellinis, teas, coffees and juices

itex members beware!!!!!
by greatape at Citysearch
my family and I were looking forward in using our Itex points to stay in the lux. we called three months ahead of time and the owner said that he only books itex members 2wks prior to stay. we understood his point. we called him 2wks prior, booked the stay, took our Itex points.we were booked, bought our tickets to fly out there...three days prior to our trip he decides to take our room from under us and gave it to some one else (great customer service hum?) he was also price gauging, ex: there webpage said $269 a night, he was charging $465 Itex POINTS!!!! broker in LA defended his price and said"we were lucky to even have him"
how lucky can you get?
Not what I expected

Read other reviews and thought it would be a great choice. Nice decor but hotel has a very strong odor that bothered me the entire time I was anywhere inside. Will not stay here again
Banana Pancakes!
by Jason666 at Citysearch
What an amazing treasure On Sunset at the Luxe hotel is. For breakfast I had the best pancakes I have ever eaten. For lunch I had a Lobster Club, which again was better than even Wolfgang Pucks. But dinner was the best.
I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy, so I opted for the bar menu, which is also available in the dining room. I ate Sliders and Cheese Fries with truffle oil. KOBE BEEF SLIDERS!!!!
When I go back for a regular dinner I will write more. But I must say those little burgers will always be in the back of my mind as the best burger in LA.
- Pros: Snappy service, attentive unpushy sommelier, best burger in town
- Cons: The drinks were a little small
Great find!! New Favorite Restaurant
by mywolfgang at Citysearch
Had been to On Sunset for breakfast and it was always terrific. When I heard that they were participating in the
Dine L.A. Restaurant promotion and were offering a 3 course menu (with good choices) for $34.00 , decided it was time to try it for dinner. Dinner was fantastic!! I had a roast duck breast as my entree which was scrumptious. Service was attentive and warm. The wine list is outstanding. Not surprised that the wine list is so good, as I was pleasantly surprised to see David (who was the long-time Maitre'd at The Brentwood). David is now managing the restaurant and has brought along his friendly demeanor and knowledge of wine. The chef clearly knows what he is doing. Can't wait to go back.!!!!
Food is better at the hotel next door.

I ate at On Sunset last week (as I was staying at the Luxe for business) and all I can say is the food and ambiance was much better at the restaurant next door on top of the Hotel Angeleno. Does that sound mean??
