In Short – Most recently remembered as I-Candy, this once no-man's-land bar used to be the trendy Belly in the early '00s. It's now been redesigned as an elegant 1960's throwback lounge full of intriguing nooks. Upon entry, turquoise bricks line the black walls dotted with solitary candles. In the main bar area, a glass-enclosed DJ booth peeks over two sunken tables. The outdoor front patio is always festive--and often jammed with smokers watching the late-night traffic on Santa Monica Boulevard zoom by.
Rude and Unprofessional

I spoke to the owner a month prior and he guaranteed me that they could accomodate my birthday party of 100 ish people. He told me he would rope off the upstairs area and that he was really looking forward to it. I confirmed about a week before and then again the day prior. He assured me that he was going to take care of us and it would be great. He did not take care of us and it was NOT great. When I arrived there was a HUGE Line of people who I didnt know- they were there for 3 SEPARATE parties that had been booked for the same night. When i told the bouncer i was there for my party, he said "hold it sweetie I will deal with you in a moment" and proceeded to let a bunch of people in and ignore me. When the owner finally came outside about 10 minutes later, he only let me and 3 of my friends in and rudely told me that he wasnt going to be able to get my people in and to get out of the doorway. From that point on, no one else got in. Keep in mind this was at 1030. The reason I had my party there and not some Hollywood hotspot was so that people could get in, and they just triple booked so that they could guarantee themselves business. Its just so ridiculously rude and self serving- I would HIGHLY recommend never doing business with them.
- Cons: Parking valet fills up and there is nowhere nearby to park
Not much different than I-Candy, only straight

This is one of those places I don't quite "get." Sure, it's trendy enough looking, and I think if you're 21 it's a great bar. Hipster 101. If you're over 30, forget it. Doesn't offer anything new. Bartenders are all really young and arent' used/don't know how to make anything other jack and cokes or gin and tonics. The patio is a little more comfortable in front (doesn't feel like a circus train jail anymore), and the side patio is great but all too often reserved for private parties and bottle service. Sigh.
- Pros: new side patio nice, pretty looking space
- Cons: very young crowd (which I guess could be a pro ;), guest list fri/sat
Below-Average Lounge

Went last Friday night and was very disappointed. Low energy, lame music, slow service, not all that attractive of a crowd. I live in the area and know the bar scene (all too well) -- I'd definitely recommend Winston's or Bar Lubitsch over this place. Or head over to Hollywood. But don't waste your time here. Just my two cents' worth!
- Pros: Neighborhood
- Cons: Slow service, lame crowd
