New management, not so good
by Loki310
I went to this place sometime last year and it was amazing. I recommended it to a coworker and he had a positive experience too.
I went in March and it was like night and day. Like other viewers have said, there was one Asian woman working there. She was nice enough, but she kept answering the phone during my massage. At one point, she just brought the cordless phone into the massage room.
She could barely understand English, which made communicating about areas to focus on or sensitive areas difficult.
She came really close to my inside thighs. It was uncomfortable.
And like someone else said, she didn't know how to work the credit card machine. It took like three tries before she got my Am Ex card to work.
I visited sometime in March 2009, so maybe things have changed. I just know that I won't be back. Pity, because I really enjoyed the first time I went.
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: I didn't come in for a pelvic exam
New Management = Terrible Place
by mvukmir
Apparently Knead underwent new management. The old manager (blonde girl) was incredible - organized, friendly, prompt, courteous. Now, that one asian woman works there and is a complete idiot. I went in with one other person and it took her 5 minutes just to assign us to a specific room. The asian lady stopped the massage at least three times to answer her cell phone. Also, she wouldn't shut her mouth during the massage - asking if I had ever been massaged by "an asian lady" before...yes those were her exact words. I came in with back pains, which wasn't alleviated. Since the new management, this place is absolutely TERRIBLE. I feel awful for the other therapists that DO speak English because they are wonderful - Rachel, Robert, Stephanie, etc. Those therapists are amazing - however, I won't return. I'm sorry! :(
Very odd place to get a massage

I entered the place and only ONE Asian woman was working. So, my massage was interrupted 3 times any time someone would walk into the the place or cal. I'm addition, there was no formal introduction nor was I asked if I had any injuries, sensitive areas, etc. The woman also didn't speak much English and got very close to the very very inside of my thighs. She also didn't know how to work the credit car machine- I had to figure it out on my own. In a nutshell- don't go here& if you do-don't expect much!
I Love Knead!

I too was surprised when I read the reviews. The staff is really friendly, they run on time everytime I've been there (not like the Massage Place on Ocean Park, who made me once wait twenty minutes without an explanation for my massage) and whoever is working at the counter is always willing to put quarters in my meter and thoroughly explained the three parking options. I don't know what people expect from a place that offers $48 massages, but its always clean, nice and great massages. Come on people, you know that this is not some sort of spa at the Peninsula, but you will get just as great of a massage. I really have come to conclusion that people just like to complain. I say don't go back, but why be a cry baby about it, and if you didn't love your therapist there are so many others to choose from. I've had three different people, Meghan, Robert and Christie and they're all fantastic, completely different but really great.
- Pros: fantastic massages, great price
- Cons: can't think of anything
