Pasadena professionals and other neighborhood sophisticates--including the mayor of Pasadena and (ahem) Dr. Drew--gather for some serious wines and lots of conversation in this small, popular neighborhood spot just off the main drag of Colorado Boulevard. The tiny space sets a relaxed yet polished tone with recessed lighting casting a soft glow over soft leather chairs and banquettes in colors brown, cream and amber. The glass storefront offers entertaining views of Green Street and the two sidewalk deuces are perfect for summer nights lingering over a bottle of Napa cabernet. The Cal-Med menu…
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- A Euro-centric wine list features labels from France and Italy, but also focuses on better Napa wines, particularly reds ($19 to $185), with 14 available by the glass ($5 to $10). There are also fruity soju martinis and artisanal beers.
- Parking:
- Skip the valet and save some cash. There's usually good parking south of the restaurant on De Lacey Avenue.

Great Place

Great atmosphere, very cozy. The lamb was amazing, and our server was great. Surely, we will dine there again. Good wine selection too
- Pros: Tasty food
- Cons: A little pricy but worth it
Hollywood quality; better price!

I have traveled and experienced many fine dining luxuries, however, Green Street Tavern is one of the most humbling experiences I have ever had. The prices were immaculate (about $15-20 per entree) and the portion size was appropriate (not a tiny tasters plate; perfect size). The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was so upscale/cozy...? I really liked it. My fiance, who is impossible to excite, actually had positive feedback and insisted I take my mother and grandmother which I will be doing this weekend. A must try. I will make this place a new add-on to my weekly outings. =)
- Pros: Excellent food quality and service
- Cons: Lacking customers

My wife and I were looking for a new place to eat in Pasadena and came across the Green Street Tavern. The food was great and the service was exceptional. From the soup special to the divine deserts, we had an amazing time. We have found our new favorite place. :)
Total Disappointment

After reading the rave reviews, I was excited to go here to celebrate my graduation, but was sorely disappointed. They took forever getting our entrees out! We had to get up 3 separate times to ask someone to check on our food because our waiter was clearly avoiding eye contact with our table. When they finally started bringing our food out, the portions were tiny and they were delayed in serving a few of us. By the time the rest of us finally got our dishes, the others had already finished with their meals! The worst part was that they weren't even apologetic. Our waiter literally seemed to just avoid us the rest of the night. I was so embarrassed to have brought my friends & family here. We all left hungry and with a bad taste in our mouths. Won't ever go back.
Worth it! Great service and Food.

Saturday afternoon my husband and I decided to go out for a nice dinner date. We read all the reviews and decided that we had to try Green Street Tavern. I called and made a reservation. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and were greeted with huge smiles. We had the pleasure of having James serve us. He gave us a brief run down of the restaurant and even his favorite dish. We started with the Gnocchi, which was amazing. I had the Lamb Sausage with pesto risotto. It was great, so much flavor, and rich flavors. My husband took the recommendation of James and had the pork chops. He was not disappointed at all. The yams were great, and the sauce was delicious. We have never experienced service that was so warm and attentive. We definitely will be returning! The price is perfect for the service and quality of food.
- Pros: Service, Quality and Combination of the food
- Cons: Old Town parking on Saturday nights
