In Short – This colorful spot is all about fiesta time: Bright floral arrangements fill the room and Frida Kahlo-inspired paintings--for sale by local artists--hang against mauve walls. Servers outfitted in bright indigenous dresses swish by, bringing warm flour tortillas to each table, while Mexican folk dancers strut to the sounds of the Mariachi band that blares from the small stage. The menu is unpresumptuous, focusing on Mexican basics and margaritas. For the adventurous palate, there are regional specialties like Puerto Nuevo-style shrimp and Veracruz-style fish. – –…
Someone dishonest at this place
by rdziopek
I ate at Paseo Cantina on June 8, 2009 and ordered their $6.95 buffet. I left a $1.00 tip at the table and paid with my credit card. When I received my credit card bill a $4.00 tip was added on dishonestly. I tried calling the manager 3x and he cut me off when I complained about this dishonest charge.
- Pros: food ok
- Cons: Dishonest charge on my credit card billo
Very Pleased Overall!

My family and I just enjoyed a great Sunday Brunch for my mom's birthday at this lovely restaurant and we will definitely come back again. At first I was a bit apprehensive because of all the bad reviews but I am happy to say that we all had a great time and had absolutely no complaints about ANYTHING! Sure the mariachi is a bit loud but then again, that's what an acoustic band of that size in an enclosed area will sound like.
Mariachi's are supposed to be loud and lively (as most of us Latinos!) so if you don't like Mariachi music then maybe this place is not for you. However, if you want to enjoy a great mariachi band with wonderful regional dancing in between, great service and good food, this restaurant superceeds the likes of Cielito Lindo or the old La Fonda any day! And you can't beat the price for being able to enjoy the music for more than 2 hours without ever being rushed out.
Our server Hector took great care of us and made no mistakes on our bill despite the many drinks we were ordering. We will definitely come back again!
The Details on Paseo Cantiana
Where to Sit:
The band is very loud, so if you want to have a conversation without yelling, avoid the tables by the stage.
When to Go:
Check out the Mariachi band Tuesday through Sunday between 7pm and midnight, or Sunday morning for brunch between 12pm and 5pm. For a more relaxed experience, lunchtime is your best bet--there's a buffet from 11am to 3pm.
Happy Hour:
There's a daily happy hour from 3pm to 6:30pm, which includes a taco bar, complimentary nachos and half-off margaritas.
Know Before You Go:
Make a reservation if you're going on a weekend night. The walk-in wait can be upwards of an hour, and the bar gets crowded with the spillover.
