In Short
While the concept of recreating a French village street inside a fancy Koreatown fusion restaurant might seem ambitious, if not awkward, the mission is acheived here with a whimsical Provencal scheme of exposed brick, wrought iron accents and indoor streetlamps. Indeed, the well-heeled Korean families and karaoke-belting 20-somethings that fill this place on weekends embrace it with unfettered delight. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls offer views of the outdoor courtyard artfully landscaped with dancing water fountains and fruit trees. European-influenced Japanese fare and tapas-style dishes include braised Kobe-style beef cheeks, seared sea scallops with uni-butter and lobster fusilli.
Hits: This is probably the best haute cuisine available at any L.A. karaoke parlor. Anyone looking for a romantic dinner or gourmet bento box lunch experience will enjoy the window view.
Misses: The refined "French villa" atmosphere can't help but collide with boisterous weekend karaoke revelers, which can spoil the atmosphere for older diners.

I discovered La Defence while searching for lunch spots on Citysearch. My co-worker and I walked down the street to give it a try- what a surprise and treat! Upon entering, I was amazed at the decor. The restaurant has outstanding ambiance and we felt like we were dining in a quaint Frech village. We had the lunch sampler of various sushi and the meal and service were excellent. Also, we took a business card as the restaurant has set a nice banquet/meeting room for offsite meetings. La Defence will now be in my lunch spot circut. Thank you La Defence and Citysearch!

Went here recently before catching a show at the Wiltern - as there is not much in the way of places to eat close by I was happy to go here. The staff was super friendly and the sushi good - we tried a few different dishes and were happy with all. I work close by so think I will try and pop in for the happy hour soon.
