Oceanfront dining is just one of the perks of this beach town restaurant. Set in an airy atmosphere with beach breezes wafting in from the shore, the space is at once chic and relaxing. Chef Arthur Martinez whips up American fusion dishes for the casual crowd of locals and Angelenos who've dared to venture south of LAX. Seasonal starters include soft shell crab with succotash while main courses range from creative seafood (halibut with caper berries and lemon brown butter sauce, scallops with cob smoked bacon and wild king salmon with oyster mushrooms and white asparagus, to name a few) to dry-aged Delmonico steak and roasted duck breast. For a sweet finish, warm beignets filled with vanilla pastry cream, served with strawberry dipping sauce are a favorite.

Hidden Neighborhood Treasure. My husband and I recently celebrated his birthday at Catalina. We had the six-course tasting menu and the wine flight to accompany it. The dishes were delicious, especially the lamb, which was cooked to perfection. The wine was also perfectly paired to the dishes (although we were wary of the Rose they chose for the opening course, it turned out to be dry, fresh and crisp - not sweet, as Rose's can often be). Our server was attentive and friendly without hovering; she even remembered we were celebrating a birthday, which I let them know during booking. If you are looking for a non-pretentious, delicious meal in a beautiful restaurant, then try Catalina. It is a neighborhood treasure!

Redondo's best yet!. Excellent Food, Service and Ambience. Quaint and Romantic. Perfect wine list. Must try the split soup appetizer.
