Arcadia >Tokyo Table
very disappointing food, really good customer service, worst experience, really good deals, nice japanese dinner, rude waiters, good bimbimbap
good group spot.
I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad.
I came with a group of 9 and we actually had a great time.
As we got seated, our server took our drink order, we weren't sure what to order so they gave us some time to review the menu.
we ordered the food, enjoyed our drinks and maybe it took a little time but we were okay because we were having a drink while having a great conversation with friends.
Worst Restaurant Experience!.
The review below mine said it perfectly.
I was very embarrased for my host, he wanted to take me to a nice Japanese dinner after a long meeting. Not that they were busy, but no one took our drink order, like we weren't in the restaurant. Food took forever and when it did arrive, no plates, chopsticks or napkins. Maybe we had the same server as the review below? The food was very disappointing and the service was even worse. Management doesn't seem to care, noticed that I share the same comments as others. It is very sad as this is a nice contemporary restaurant.
We ordered their sampler plate and everything was fried and salty. I eat Japanese food often and have NEVER been offered that much fried food. Japanese food is subtle and very simple, but this was very salty. It would have been OK, but we couldn't even get anyone to take our drink order. The sushi was not very good at all, I'm glad that we didn't order a lot. We asked for the check 3 times, they didn't want to take our order or give us the check. Not sure why they're in business.
When we walked out of there, he felt bad and wanted to end the evening on a good note. We drove down the street to Marie Calendar's and had dessert and they took our drink order right away.
Management is Horrible! Food is just so-so.
This is what my boyfriend wrote to this place to let them know just how badly they treat customers:
This was by far, the most rude and unsatisfying restaurant experience I have ever had. If we had known how that experience was going to go, we would have gone to the Cheesecake Factory next door.
I had no idea that there were only two waiters working all of the tables in the place when my girlfriend and I sat down in the lounge area. There seemed to be enough people in the restaurants as there were 7 employees in the dining area, including one manager.
First, we loved the menu and the style of the restaurant. We both ordered cocktail drinks off the Late Happy Hour menu and then three plates, the California Rolls, the Sweet Potato Fries and the Unagi Rolls. I can’t comment on the food as we ended up only receiving one of those items that night.
Our California roll was brought out to us by someone, not our waiter, but we had no napkins, chopsticks, dinner plates, or even one of those little soy sauce dishes. It took us a good 5 minutes before we could get someone to bring us these items. Our waiter had passed by and saw us and helped us out. That’s when he explained to us that he was only one of two waiters working the restaurant.
We waited half an hour after we got the Cal Roll and still no fries or second roll. We couldn’t even ask about the food as no one even stopped by during that time to ask us how we were even doing. Waiving our arms for service got us nowhere, as well. We had planned on ordering more cocktails, but that plan was quickly ditched when we realized that our dinner wasn’t even coming.
So, we decided to leave. However, we needed the bill to do this. Getting this bill so that I could pay these guys to ruin my night was probably the hardest thing I did all night. My girlfriend and I could so easily have walked out without even paying you guys a dime. However, we’re not like that. My girlfriend and I had to literally get up and stand at the front door, waiting, hoping that someone would pass by. While we waited for someone, ANYONE, to help us, other patrons started arriving and just standing by the front door, waiting for help that my girlfriend and I told them would never come.
We finally got some guy to help us. We told the guy that we wanted our bill, but weren’t going to pay for the things we never received. He apparently needed his manager to sign off on this stuff in order to do that. Well, this manager lady was hiding out in the office. When she finally graced us with her presence, she didn’t even bother to look at us, let alone ask us why were asking for food items to be taken off the bill, completely ridiculous, not to mention horrible customer service. Not even the best part, the best part was when the guy finally had our bill printed out, what he gave us said a balance of $0.00!!! So the guy, who was very nice and apologetic, had to get the manager out of her office, once again. She actually closed the door in his face! I was pretty shocked that a manager would just take food off of a bill and not even ask WHY. But, maybe she already knew what we didn’t when we showed up at that sorry place.
So that was our pretty horrible experience in a nutshell. My girlfriend and I like to eat out a lot and we’ve NEVER had such an outright horrible experience like this one. We’ve seen it all, rude waiters, crappy food, even ruder diners, but this experience was the worst! At the end we ended up having to laugh about it because it was just too ridiculously horrible.
Too Much Hype!. Took my parents for a special night and was very disappointed. We asked some questions about the menu and our server couldn't explain the food, should have gone to the Cheesecake Factory next door, he had that lost look on his face. I overheard the next table having the same problems, different server. We tried the appetizer sampler, all fried and very salty. Asked to send the fried potatoes back and the server told me that they are supposed to be salty. Trust me, I love salt, but I couldn't eat it. The tempura was kind of soggy and the sushi rolls had no flavor. We didn't order anything else after that. Not a great evening, maybe we should have taken the server's suggestion and ONLY ordered a cocktail. Manager seemed to be on his cell phone the entire time we were there. Can someone explain the hype of this place?
SLOW customer service. I've been to this restaurant twice and to be honest I'm not dying to go back anytime soon. The food is alright, but the service is so dang slow. I think they're still training new staff, but regardless, we had to wait forever for the check to arrive. If you're in the Arcadia mall area & wanting some Japanese food, you're better off going to Old Town Pasadena & going to Wokcano.
Poor Service!. Too bad, I will never and never go to Tokyo Table!! And I will tell the story to all my friends not to go!! Why? I spent my time to prepare a surprise bridal party for my girlfriend. I called and made a reservation the day before. Guess what? Three hosts said we never made reservation when my friends arrived. What a service! Fine! We can drop down the name and wait since it's weekday night and we saw not many people inside. But the host told us need to wait 40 minutes!! Can you believe what service Tokyo Table provides?! I was very upset, these hosts screwed up my plan!! I told them I clearly remembered who took my reservation -- Jennifer! Then the host said, "we have many Jennifer, and she's the waitress not the host". No way, do you need to know who takes your reservation when you called the restaurant?! Come on! Standing outside and "enjoying" the cool winds, the host lead told us that we were the next. And, she gave us the rolling eyes! What a service this host provides to the guesses! Of course, we didn't give them a business!! Never and Never!!
