Already an established name in the Southwest and SoCal hair scene (think Jose Eber, Tony & Guy, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa), Kyle Mathis has finally branched out with his own eponymous salon, situated right across the street from the Third Street Promenade and just a few blocks from the ocean. Forgoing the bells and whistles of other high end salons, the sparsely decorated space features not much more than a leather sofa here, a row of salon chairs there and a handful of oversized oil paintings hanging on the red walls ... oh, and a drum kit and guitars right there in the center. Haley was great! She listened to my concerns with my cut and color. She had great suggestions and was very honest about what I could expect. I left with an fantastic haircut and a great color. It will take a couple of times to get the color perfect because Haley wants to make sure that my hair stays healthy. The salon was clean and has a cool rock'n roll style. Haley did magic with my hair!!
- Pros: amazing hair
- Cons: parking

What's unique about this place is that it's a rock-n-roll studio-style spot, yet they serve organic teas and play magic, soothing music. Unbelievable. Christi @ Kyle Mathis is my favorite place to get my hair done. AND I've got a lot of hair, and it's important in my line of work to have a business professional hair-style and Christi does it better than anyone. But, don't be fooled, she does all kinds of hair - everything. Don't let her tattoos scare you - she's the real deal: a true professional. She works with her clients, and takes her time to make your hair look the way you want, no matter what style you're going for. She even let's you take your hair for a test drive, and if you change your mind and want to change it - no problem. Check out Christi Thomas @ Kyle Mathis Hairdressing in Santa Monica, she's worth it.
- Pros: Cristi Thomas is the finest hairdresser - ever.
- Cons: I wish more hairy people knew about Christi's skills
THANK YOU!! A+++++++ Salon & Hairdresser

I never usally rate a place I go to, but I really had to write about this hair salon, as I know how difficult it is to find a truly good one!
I needed to do my roots and found Kyle Mathis hairdressing online. I thought it looked like a cool place, but I honestly didn't have too high expectations, as I always end up getting disappointed when I go to the hairdresser. It is the first time I can say that a place looks better in real than in the pictures and the service there exceeded ALL my expectations.
A stylist named Christiano did my hair and what a job! I have never had highlights done as nicely as he did them and my hair cut was absolutely mind blowing! If I could give him more than 5 stars I really would.... THANK YOU... I will keep coming back and will send all my friends. I already went back for a blowdry and sent my husband, who got a very stylish haircut. Christiano is obviously very experienced and knows how to do ANYTHING with hair.
I recommend going to this salon and to book and appointment with Christiano.
- Pros: Best hairstylist (christiano), beautiful Salon, nice people
- Cons: Absolutely None!
