Chill location and great drinks. – Consistently great service and food. Really good drinks at the bar. Nice atmosphere. Not bad! This is one of our favorite afternoon meeting places. If you're a deviled egg fan, look no further. They're pretty awesome here. The ahi tuna tacos are equally so. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
Over-Priced Food – The food is over-priced, especially for lunch. Why should a veggie burger cost $12? I got cold slaw with it which was an ample amount, but it was swimming in mayonnaise. My brother got the french dip sandwich for $15, which he liked. My sister got the brussel sprouts salad for $13, which she liked. Remember this was for lunch on a Thursday. We ordered a side of french fries for $3, which wasn't too costly, but they came with some weird seasoning, which should be indicated on the menu. It was my birthday, the waitress/bartender knew it, but no birthday dessert was forthcoming. Overall the menu is limited and not one I'm fond of.
These guys are jerks – These guys are absolute jerks. It is 10:41 and they are playing music, loud, to the interior patio, the back yard to many, many apartment dwellers, with no customers or potential customers present. It is not attracting any business, just making for a bad living environment for their neighbors. I have called them regularly to complain but the management does not want to be good neighbors.
Try the brussel sprout salad! – I went to La Grande Orange for a late Saturday lunch and had a lovely time. Even though my party came in after normal lunch hours, we were well taken care of by the staff. I had a difficult time deciding what to order but went with the sirloin tacos...all I can say is wow! My friend had the brussel sprout salad and I will be ordering that next time I go.
Citysearch Editorial Review – After remaining vacant for many years, the historic Santa Fe Depot in Pasadena, built in 1935 for the Santa Fe Railroad, is back to welcoming visitors in an elegant dining room, patio and bar designed by Kristofer Keith. A casual but cultured Pasadena crowd sips Syrah and talks politics or baseball while lounging among oxblood leather booths, or on the Mission-style patio outfitted with a fireplace and fountains. A mahogany bar a la the Raymond Chandler era offers specialty cocktails and almost exclusively California wines. Market-driven modern American cuisine forms a menu including orange fennel salad with goat cheese, pan-seared salmon, filet mignon, swordfish tacos and short ribs. The dessert menu is executed by pastry chef Kristianne Pak, grand prize winner of S. Pellegrino's 2008 Almost Famous Chef contest, and features generous portions of everything from budino to Key Lime pie.
LOVE IT!! – What a fabulous place! I thought the food was excellent and the service was extremely friendly and efficient. The brussel sprout salad is to die for--and I don't even like brussel sprouts! They were barely cooked so they were still crisp, and broken up like mini lettuce leaves with almonds, bacon if you like and a tasty dressing. Also excellent was the Dixie fried chicken--the meat was moist and the crust was flavorful and crispy. It was chilly the night we went, but there is outdoor dining and the bar is open to a courtyard, just the place to be on a hot summer night. The old train station is beautifully restored. Valet parking out front is efficient and costs $6. The place is noisy due to the acoustics of the old building, but you can barely hear the quiet Gold Line trains go by. Definitely check this place out, especially if you happen to be in Old Town. It's just a block or two south of Colorado Boulevard.
