I live in NYC and travel to DC just about every week. I am always on the go. I find this service a time efficient and economical way to meet others. I enjoy the diversity of the people I meet, the professionalism of the company and the restaurants the events are held in to be top notch. If you are busy like myself and haven't the time to meet others in bars and such, this is a very good alternative.

Cream of the Crema

Returned from a fun night at Crema. First let me say how much I absolutely adore Crema. It was a new find for me and I thought I knew every spot in my hood. It's a fancy schmancy mexican cuisine locale with a terrific vibe and feel. They have amazing watermelon margaritas and all the food was incredibly flavorful. The atmosphere was festive which made it extra fun. I'm new to speed dating but was pleasantly surprised. I thought the restaurant was cool, the staff and hosts super helpful. I was sat down with my first date and the night was on. Fourteen different dates, fourteen different personalities and fourteen way to learn something about yourself or the opposite sex. Good stuff. At the break they serve bites which was a nice way to talk a little less formal to the guys and offered a nice opportunity to talk to my fellow girls. Everyone that came to the event seemed like me. Overworked, overstressed and in desperate need of a laugh, a drink and a who knows. I got all three.

Super fun

Attended an event last night at STK and thought I would come and share my experience. Myself, my best friend and her roommate thought we would try out this thing called 'Speed Dating'. I'd seen it in movies and on tv - but never had a chance to try it myself and I'm glad I finally got the nerve to do it. Can't just let the world pass us by, right?

We arrived at STK just before 8pm. Met the hosts who checked us in, gave us the run down and let us know that if we wanted the make-over we should check in with the make-up just off to the side in the next room. My best friend thought she would check it out while the other two went and got our drinks. There is absolutely nothing not to like about STK. It's super romantic and glitzy, but really comfortable as well. Seemed everyone in the group took the extra effort to look their best.

I was also very impressed with how professional and sharp the staff lo oked. All in ties and looking very finished. Once everything settled down, we were invited into the speed dating room where the ladies sat down first. A short while later in came the men.

Speed Dating for me was one of a lot of emotions. Most very silly but I also felt nervous which I wasn't expecting. Suddenly I'm 13 again waiting for the winter dance to begin. Some of the guys I spoke with were also nervous while others seemed like pros. I wasn't sure which I find more attractive. It seemed a few of the guys had prepared lines which I thought ended up sounding corny. The ones that did the best in my book were the ones that weren't afraid to let their inner geek show.

It seemed I met about 10 guys before they announced they would be breaking so we could freshen up. At that time, the hosts came around with tray passed bites which I thought was a nice bonus. We grabbed a few mouthfuls and regrouped in the restroom to compare notes and see how each other were doi ng.

When we returned the hosts had laid out really cute mint cases with lipstick mirrors for each of us. It was a nice touch especially for those of us with constant, is there lipstick on my teeth or parsley stuck in my teeth, paranoia. And then before I knew it we were all back at it.

Soon I had met the last of the eligible bachelors and took a few minutes out to write down who I wanted to see again on the results card. Every neurosis I have suddenly kicked in. There were guys I wanted to see again as friends and maybe more, some I liked and thought they were sweet but wasn't sure I felt a romantic connection and others that I couldn't remember how I felt. I took a stab in the dark and picked 3 that I thought would be fun to continue on with at another time.

I liked the company's casual but sophisticated approach. I appreciated that they didn't make a huge spectacle out of everything. One of my reservations about speed dating in general was feeling that I was going to be put on display for the rest to gawk at. And to my relief, it wasn't anything like that. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone to go and within minutes I was placed firmly back in where I could let out a sigh of relief.

Fruit Bat

Moved to DC from NYC about 4 months ago from a work transfer. I had been a few times so I knew the city well but didn't know a soul so this service worked well for me. Since I'm still learning my way around I really liked the venues that DC dating has on their roster. One of which is Fruit Bat. A really original spot along H Street. I live in Arlington but work very close. They do a great combination of unique drinks mixed with fresh fruit and juices. I've since taken a co-worker there and we both loved it. For the events, I really enjoyed meeting so many different people. Seems a very professional crowd, diverse crowd. The hosts are very eager to please, the restaurants/bars are all right up my alley and find it to be a great way to spend a weekday night. They used to have events in Arlington which I really liked but I think most of the crowd comes from work so they don't have events there anymore which is a shame. It's a great opportunity to expand your social network, maybe find someone you want to see again and meet others similar to you and your interests

Works for me

Seen this company a few times and always have a good time. It is a drag sometimes to make it to the events in hollywood because i never know when ill get out of work. The hosts always try to squeeze me in and I appreciate the extra effort. Sometimes i'm just too late and that's a bummer but i try my best. Screw you barham! They used to have events at geisha house which i really liked - also katsuya which is cool. It seems they are bit farther west now but it's not a biggie. I don't have a lot of time outside of work so this works well for me. The staff are down to earth, the attendees the same and the vibe is just generally relaxing and chill. If you don't have a lot of time and want to meet some nice peeps - this is pretty good. Now if i meet my mrs. i'll come back here and upgrade the review.
