Editorial Review for The London West Hollywood – by Nicolas Rabinovitch

In Short
The Legendary Bel Age hotel has gotten a face-lift from designer David Collins who transformed the all-suite hotel into a beacon for iconic Hollywood glamour and sophisticated London style. The towering ten-story property is located at the foot of the Hollywood Hills, offering 400 rooms just steps from the Sunset Strip and Santa Monica Boulevard, while still remaining a bit removed from the center of all the action and noise. The main building opened in April of 2008 with more additions on the way. A new restaurant by "Hell's Kitchen" chef Gordon Ramsey is planned to open in mid-2008 and will feature an upscale European menu with Asian twists. The rooftop pool and spa and the lobby bar will open in late 2008.

Hits: A standard room is about 720 square feet and features an open floor plan complete with a California king bed, living room space and huge mosaic tile bathroom. With a starting price of $249 to $299, it's a better deal than most of the Strip locations down the street.

Misses: While the interior design and rooms are four-star, the shared spaces are a bit lackluster. The lobby is somewhat small and misses a welcoming California vibe.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

My favorite hotel in New York City is the London and I had high expectations for the Los Angeles London...my expectations were met. I loved the lobby. It was truly beautiful. The staff was helpful but my favorite was my bathroom in my room. I'm building a house right now and it gave me several ideas. I will be coming back and will have my friends stay there when they come into town. Perfect location as well if you're into the Sunset Blvd crowd.

Pros: Room, Lobby, Staff, Quality

Cons: my room wasn't ready when I got there but worth the wait

This hotel is simply gorgeous. The rooms are to die for. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but the rooms are perfect size, decorated fab and have great decks over the Sunset strip. The roof top is also really beautiful. Definitley a good location if you want to enjoy the Hollywood clubs. Pricey, but well worth it.

Pros: Best Bathroom

Cons: None I can think of.
