Editorial Review for The Hall at Palihouse – by Laurie Wheeler
In Short
Southern hospitality never looked so stylish. This lounge/restaurant/coffee bar is part of the Palihouse, WeHo's boutique hotel that gives extended-stay living a luxurious twist. In the lounge, young Hollywood types meet for drinks while well-to-do hotel guests gather around a faux fireplace that anchors the homey space. Clusters of cushy eather couches create cozy conversation nooks to sip an espresso in the morning, or a Cabernet in the evening. There's also a brasserie, tucked in the corner next to the courtyard. Charles Trenet croons softly through the speakers while diners sample cheese and charcuterie plates and colorful French fare, like croque monsieur, pissaladiere and steak frites.
Hits: Details like antique bicycles by the front door, stuffed birds in gilded cages, and a collection of antique locks create a fun setting. Also, the lobby is open to the public, so if you love the vibe and live in the neighborhood, you can relax with a coffee, pastry, and newspaper at the espresso bar seven mornings a week.
Misses: There is a divide between the guests and lounge-goers, and the hotel clients don't always seem pleased to have their "home" be party central.

Insider Tips
ParkingThe area around Palihouse is mostly permit parking at night; just pony up the $7 for valet.
Where to SitThe lounge area offers drink service at the tables, so pull up a couch and get comfortable. The cocktail waitress will mix a drink right at your seat while you relax.
What to DrinkThere's a full bar, and a classic Pimm's Cup compliments the European mood in the lounge. The English standard consists of gin, lemonade and fruit slices infused with mint and borage leaves.
