Editorial Review for Foxtail – by Christine Landry
In Short
Without a doubt, this supper club is an art deco/nouveau-style knockout with a touch of '70s glam rock thrown in for good measure. Stained glass, marble tables and plush armchairs set the scene for the crowd of pimped and primped trendoids and clubbing celebutantes. While everyone else is looking over their shoulders, diners order from "Top Chef" Antonia Lofaso's menu of bistro fare. Selections range from generous artisanal cheese plates and roasted chicken with caramelized fennel to the nostalgic cookies and warm milk combo. Once dinner is done and the lipstick has been reapplied, night owls make their way upstairs to the equally posh nightclub--that is, if they can get in.
Hits: The decor is a sight to behold--few places capture old-school Hollywood glamour quite like this, and the celebrity spotting is often top-notch for the 20-something set.
Misses: The tiny bar serves as waiting area before dinner, yet the close quarters ensure gridlock between diners and servers. This isn't the place to meet friends just for drinks, especially since a dinner reservation is required beforehand.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoMake your reservation two weeks in advance if you're set on seeing the inside--on busy nights you'll need a rez just to walk through the front door.
When to GoThe upstairs nightclub hosts private parties that could render it off-limits on any given night. The staff denies entry in a friendly manner, but calling beforehand may save you the hassle.
ParkingParking is $6 with validation.
What to DrinkVigorously shaken $15 specialty cocktails--made with slow-melting ice--are worth every penny. Try the cucumber pomegranate deluxe made with organic mint-- it's a fresh-tasting standout.

How does this place have 4 stars on citysearch when everyone who has written a review has given it 1 star! Don't waste your time or money on this place. We spend over $150/person and left hungry because we could not eat our disgusting food. First our dinner arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes after we ordered. The lobster salad was raw and inedible. One person had to send her steak back twice because it was rare and she ordered well done ( I ordered medium rare and got rare but was too hungry to send it back). Desert was the only saving grace the bread pudding was great.
Pros: food service everything!!!
