Never Again. I've been going there for years and while the vets are competent their prices are just HIGHWAY ROBBERY. They nickel and dime you for everything, and run a lot of overpriced tests. When I brought my pet in with a fungal infection and they charged me $400 just for the tests and diagnosis, I almost choked. Then they gave me the medicine to put on him, a simple anti-fungal that said "cures jock itch" and you can buy in any drugstore for $2 -- and charged me $25 for it!! That was the *last straw*.

I will no longer be ripped off by these crooks. And aside from the senior vets there, every time I went there a number of vets had changed...looks like they can't hold on to their employees either.

WARNING!!! VCA SCAM. DO NOT FALL FOR FREE INITIAL VISIT COUPON! I went for the first time to VCA with a coupon in hand (for an annual wellness check for my two year old BT) and ended up with a $500 bill! Although kind, the vet wanted to run endless tests on my "bright eyed, happy guy"--- they took skin scrapings, glaucoma and eye fluid tests, an entire panel of blood, urine, fecal tests---all came out negative (surprise!) They also scared me into giving my dog heartworm meds---within twelve hours, my dog had uncontrollable watery bowel movements and lameness in his hind legs! I brought him back to VCA, where I saw another doctor and was told that it was not an allergic reaction to the meds. It was a most likely an orthopedic issue, perhaps a slipped disk... he would need to take more diagnostic tests, xrays, etc. I took my dog and RAN! The next day, my dog started to walk on his hind legs and seems back to his spunky self (diarreah has still not cleared up.) My suggestion, be cautious of this place---their M.O. is to get you in and then scare you into letting them take expensive, often needless tests, on your beloved pets---and walk out feeling used, ripped off and angry at yourself for falling for the VCA scam!

PLEASE READ THIS FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR OWN PET. Turbo had been mis-diagnosed by VCA Animal Hospital in Burbank, CA. She had a neurological problem that the vet missed, and chose to ignore my numerous calls regarding my concern for her behavior (losing balance, tripping, panting, pacing, walking in circles). The vet proceeded to put her under general anesthetic for a dental cleaning and to extract 1 abscessed tooth, she pull 10 of her teeth out (I regret giving them the okay to do what they felt was necessary, I sure wasn’t expecting it to go from 1 to 10 teeth!), without giving antibiotics prior to the surgery, over medicated her with other pills (TURBO WAS 16 YEARS OLD BTW). After the surgery her symptoms worsened. Again, the vet disregarded several calls afterwards. Five days later, the vet agrees to see her, evaluates her, says she is perfectly fine, then prescribes more medication! That night she had a seizure and would eventually have to be put down from the damage caused. I watched my poor little girl fall over, walk into walls, and lose control of her motor and body functions for a week, hoping that we might get lucky with a good recovery. Her last night, she collapsed on the floor. We took her back to emergency but unfortunately the damage was too great and we had to make the difficult decision to end her suffering. It is THE OPINION OF FOUR OTHER VETS that Turbo should not have had the surgery given the symptoms, the lack of antibiotics prior to surgery very well could have caused her demise, the doses prescribed on the other medications were 3 times or more, the needed amount for a 16lb dog. I regret trusting our dog’s life to VCA and I hope that this will encourage others to go elsewhere or at least get a second opinion. I now have names of highly recommended, respected vets. Feel free to contact me if you would like their info. OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN. BY THE WAY, ABERMAN (VCA VET) WAS DIRECTLY NOTIFIED OF THE SEIZURE BY ONE OF HER TECHNICIANS DECEMBER 24TH IN THE MORNING, AS OF 1-4-09, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATION FROM ABERMAN.
