For those of you wondering where I am, for those of you wondering what is that building with the BB's on it, and for those of you who read these reviews, here is a first person account of Body Bar.

We are an intimate cozy boutique spa with a great team of individuals who come together to offer the best in services and products. We are fortunate to have a clientele made up of locals who want spa services without having to leave the hood as well as those who travel from far distant shores (west side, orange county,etc.)

We are constantly evolving and fine tuning the services we offer and the products we carry. We have therapists who pursue advanced education and bring a wealth of information to each and every treatment they do.

Along with waxing, threading, skin care, massage and body treatments I offer Bellanina Face Lift Massage and Raindrop treatment with Young Living oils.

Huge Letdown! Bummer!

The massage was such a huge letdown, I am bummed. Valentine's Day weekend, my honey & I book a couples massage. Back story, the front desk make the masseusse sound like the second coming of Christ. The massage was rushed, choppy, had little flow. Sure the pressure was good, but there was no intuitive response to my body. I felt that my energy was sucked dry, leaving me in a bummer state of mind. The rest of my day was just kind of in slow motion. In fact, I had to book a massage at Voda spa to correct the ineffectual massage at this place. I do not recommend this place; save your money & sanity. Besides the women's locker room is dirty. The Chill room was anything but relaxing. The front desk girl was kind of rude; hello I'm giving you money.

i've been here several times since body bar I've been coming to this spa off and on since it opened. I've never has a bad experience. I always leave wondering why I don't make an effort to come more often.

Today, I did a pilates class there in the morning and then stayed for a massage and a steam. I feel like a changed woman today...in a very good way. ;)

Kara teaches a pilates mat class there every Sunday am. She was trained in NYC with the infamous Romana Kryzanowska (who trained with Joseph Pilates). This is the real deal -- tons of focus, attention, and spirit.

How fun / luxurious to then slip on a comfy rope, take a shower and steam and then have a massage to even further lengthen the muscles?

I had a fantastic massage with Jesse, who I think is fairly new there. He has great energy, strong confident hands. I definitely disappeared into the massage completely. He seems very intuitive and experienced. I highly recommend.

The place is very cute / sophisticated. Great music (soothing), nice lighting, very nice artwork (which seems to change). Always very clean and super relaxing. Staff seems very accomodating - there is always something nice to drink (teas, spa water, prosecco or wine) and little snacks (chocolates or little cookies).

Despite being right on Sunset Blvd in Silverlake, it feels like a mini-oasis once you are there. I always spend more time that I plan to because I feel so relaxed.

They do cute events sometimes too. Seems very neighborhoodly. Nice to have a healthy centre with a great vibe right in Silverlake.

I will definitely keep returning.

Cute, Convenient, and Warm

I was very surprised when I went to look up their phone number and saw some nasty reviews on this site! I've been to this spa several times and I've always found it to be a very warm, welcoming, relaxing experience. On weekends they have wine and mimosas along with scrumptious chocolates and other goodies. They have an extensive menu and free consultations so you know just what's right for you.

I keep asking myself what could've possibly gone so wrong with these other people? I think the therapists are very sweet and good at what they do. I don't like to talk during my treatments and they were really chill and respectful of my needs. They recommended product but not in a pushy way and it was stuff I really needed!

As far as the lack of parking, WELCOME TO LA PEOPLE! I mean how many places besides malls have their own parking structure? Not that many! They even offer valet across the street on weekends which is the only time I've ever had a problem finding it on the street so it's perfect.

If you're the type of person that's used to big over-the-top fancy spas in Bev Hills then this might not be the best place for you. You can clearly see just by driving by that it's a small space, and I think they did an amazing job with it considering that it used to be a big empty storage facility back in the day. The transformation is incredible.

I mean come on, smelly trash cans out front? Sounds of cars and busses? This is the city and if you want to go to some cold mall spa surrounded by a concrete noise barrier then that's your perogative. I however prefer a small, intimate space where I'm recognized and greeted by name. I've never been bothered by noise while I'm there, and I find the space very modern, clean, and chic.

So in closing, stop trashing my Body Bar! This is an "urban spa" with a laid back neighborhood feel. This isn't Burke Williams and it doesn't try to be. Go with the flow and you'll have a wonderful experience.
