In Short – All hail, the reigning king of British fashion has arrived! Every detail of this sublime West Hollywood shop is chic, from the staff to the design itself, with its white, curved walls and built-in shelves to the 9-foot anatomically correct naked metal man dangling from a skylight. Then, of course, there are the clothes. Fans will be thrilled to find his trademark impeccable cocktail dresses with razor-sharp tailoring, shrunken blazers festooned with feathers and impossibly gorgeous and elaborate evening gowns. For this city's most fashion-forward men, there are…

God Save McQueen (and replace the terrible staff)

by 41chance at Citysearch

Couldn't agree more with the above comment. Alexander McQueen is my favorite designer. I went into his place in Los Angeles and couldn't believe how rude the sales people were. I went in there with my fiancee to buy this cardigan I wanted but the sales women followed us around the store as if we were gonna steal something! We were basically chased out of the store. Way to sell huh? As much as i love McQueen's lines I don't find myself buying anything of his at the Los Angeles store (until the sales people are replaced) until then i will find myself in the Las Vegas store/barneys/the London Store/Marc Jacobs (the nicest staff by far, and just a crosswalk away). God Save McQueen! (but please replace the horrible staff in Los Angeles, especially that tall dark haired bi**h)

2 stars (would've been none if his clothes weren't so great) until the staff changes.

Loved Everything/Hated Everyone

I'm slightly confused by the editorial review that mentioned the salespeople as a "h*t" since on each of my three visits I found them to embody the worst of Los Angeles retail. Don't get me wrong, the clothes are amazing and the store itself is beautiful (I am not kidding when I say I want to live in their dressing room), but that doesn't excuse the snooty and condescending attitude of the employees. I'm not surprised that I was the only person shopping there on each of my visits, the employees manage to make it a tedious and unpleasant experience. On a positive note, I don't think it'll be like that for long. New stores often have to work out some kinks when they first open. But until that happens at McQueen, just go to Balenciaga...it's right down the street and has the most kick-ass workers of any store I know.

  • Pros: the clothes, the architecture, the design...THE DRESSING ROOMS!!!!
  • Cons: the staff

The Details on Alexander McQueen

Fun Fact:

McQueen commissioned artist Robert Bryce Muir to create the store's eyecatching sculpture--a man suspended from the ceiling--called "Angel of the Americas."

Don't Miss:

There's a back room dedicated entirely to some of the best shoes this side of Manolo and Louboutin.
