In Short – The South Bay has lots of upscale Mexican restaurants, most serving cantina food at hacienda prices. But Ortega 120 earns points for real regional Mexican cooking, albeit with presentations that owe more to culinary school than Mamacita's kitchen. Lots of potential hope it improves.

We have been to this place twice and I am very concerned. It has so much potential, but it is earning failing grades with me. The food is wonderful when hot (see below) and is a novel twist on the standard Mexican fare. The Tequila list is extensive and the menu is just as extensive although poorly designed...hang on to those pages. They are attractively designed but they are hinged at the top of the page. If you try to fold them over to the back so you can see the following pages, have a strong grasp on them because they will fly back and bop you in the nose. The rice and beans are served family style and the portions and quality (less one issue see below) are fantastic, HOWEVER!!! We went when they first opened during the summer and the waitress forgot to turn in the appetizer. We gave them another chance and went this past week. The plates where hotter than the food and we had to ask twice for a spoon that should have been delivered with the soup. I fear for this place. With businesses closing left and right, it needs to get the service issues cleaned up including making sure hot food is delivered hot.
