In Short – In an abrupt 180-degree turnaround from the moody purple reign of Table 8, chef celebre Govind Armstrong has reopened the space as a more populist hangout that aspires to dish up the best--or at least hautest--burger in town. The crowd of punky shoppers and Melrose locals seem at home among the rock-and-roll tunes, reclaimed wood accents, black leather banquettes and subway tile. As for the menu, there is a custom-blended wood-grilled burger of Black Angus sirloin, tri-tip, short rib and chuck that is humanely raised and hormone-free to boot. Other choices include the Estancia…
Great place

I'm a regular here, as 8 ounce is at the end of my street. This place has excellent food for how reasonable the prices are. The burgers are tasty - not as good as, say, Father's Office, but for they are absolutely quality burgers and the prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to what you'd expect. The menu isn't huge, but there's a large array of toppings and sauces for the burgersand the menu goes well with the ambience, which is a New Yorky feeling gastro-pub. Don't overlook the short rib grilled cheese, which is phenomenal. Friendly wait staff, lively yet non-pretentious bar scene. Would highly recommend. Good happy hour spot, as well.
- Pros: Cazh ambience, value
- Cons: none
oh, how i LOVE LOVE LOVE 8 oz
by sztumpf
the burgers are PERFECT, from the juiciness of the patty down to the airy lightness of the bun, to the thin strips of lettuce...attention to detail, I tell you! i've had their beef, turkey and fish burgers... all FANTASTIC! oh, and the sides are great also! i've had the fries, the exquisite onion rings and the broccolini... c'est magnifique, MUAH!
i dropped by earlier today for takeout and asked for a tub of their thousand island dressing, which is pure GENIUS), and which I very well know they don't sell except in teeny cups. Not only were they kind enough to give me a coffee cup full... they sent me off with a heart filled with hope... saying that they are considering the idea of selling their dressings in bottle size. YES PLEASE!
one question: i always ask if the meat is organic, which is one of the reasons i eat there... and the waiters always say yes, but aren't very reassuring... anyone know this to be a fact, do tell!
- Pros: the food!
- Cons: uhhh, i got nothin'
