Now known as Beard Papa's. This little shop next to the supermarket in WestLA's JapanTown is awesome! I've had their cream puffs and eclaires and they're all good! The vanilla creme is their best but I found their chocolate cremepuff goes well with a glass of red wine (assuming you're getting them to go and eating them at home!). I try to make it out here whenever I'm around.

Best cream puffs. This is just a dessert place, and they have a pretty wide selection but their specialty is cream puffs (or éclairs) filled with a custard flavor of your choosing. Vanilla is the most popular filling and in my opinion the best, but they also have chocolate, strawberry, caramel, etc. Anyway, I don't really like this type of dessert so I wasn't expecting to be impressed BUT these things are addictive! They're just so yummy, I now go here for dessert whenever I'm in the area. And it's cheap, too: $1.50 for the basic cream puff with vanilla, I think $1.75 if you get an éclair or a different filling. Also this particular mini mall on Sawtelle has some other cool stuff: a solid curry house, Nijiya market where you can get great Japanese groceries, and Massage Therapy Center, where you can get the best massage in LA (kinda expensive, about $80/hour).

I think this place is now beared papa. I think this place is now beared papa- which is great and better. It is a chain and better selection is now offered so give this place a try

Yum!. This wonderful restaurant has been a West LA staple for years, but the subtle changes made recently have added to the charm and personality. Everything on the menu is delicious and affordable - I personally recommend the garlic basil spaghetti or the ground beef steak with mushroom sauce. Desserts are a must, with a vast variety of cakes, tarts, and of course, mousse. Take an iced coffee to go - it's just as good or even better than Starbuck's. Highly recommended.

Taste of Japan In the Heart of West LA. For those of you who have ever had the opportunity to travel to Japan and been fortunate enough to experience the divine tastes of Japanese bakery goods and pastries, you will find a similar experience at "Mousse Fantasy". The cakes are creative, light, and fresh. You will feel like you have been transported back to a little bakery somewhere in the middle of Japan. I highly recommend.
