Neighborhoods: West LA, Venice
On the best Venice food pit stops. Their crunchy pizza crusts will make you ditch you're carb-free diet and transport you to Italian food heaven. Its a great, relaxed, and classically chill atmosphere although they do offer a great take-away service in case you're homesick.
The neighborhood restaurant everyone wishes were in their neighborhood - and everyone here wishes weren't quite as buzzy. Great pizzas, a whole section of fresh veggies, sharable small plates. No reservations.
Happening brunch place on Abbot Kinney. Great food. Awesome beer on tap. Loved cauliflower veggie side dish, mussels, and meatballs. Great place to share dishes. Really nice back patio too!
Nice, casual, hip vibe. Everything from the pizzas to the small plates are amazing. Be sure to save room for the butterscotch pudding!
One the best meals I have had in LA – Every dish was superb. I loved the apricot burrata, the amberjack, gnocchi and mushroom toast (to die for)! Ambiance was also excellent. The only reason this does not get 5 stars - I must confirm 5 stars with multiple visits.
Tip- if you don't make a reservation, put your name down, give the host your mobile number and cruise around Abbot Kinney while you wait for your table.
Don't miss Gjelina. I will certainly be back!
Yummy and Robert Downey Jr. – While we waited i chatted with one of my favorite actors who apparently goes there all the time now that he lives in Venice...Robert Downey Jr.
Yay. My trip to this eatery was already worth it. We ate, drank and rubbed shoulders with the stars. All great.
Favorite new place! – Love this place. Just found it after seeing Nik across the street at Trim. She suggested it while i got my hair colored and what a treat this place is. The decor is modern but comfortable and warm.
I ordered the muscles with chorizo and OMG! Its a large order too. My bf had the Hanger steak. It melted in our mouths. We also shared the Burrata cheese salad with roasted pears. Delish.
The GM Robert was very friendly and bought us a glass of wine while we waited. Highly recommend to you all.
great place for good food and wine – good food , diverse menu , great wines by the glass , and its fun. please don't go, its crowded enough
Great... – seasonal food, creative preparation, great pairings and generally a really good vibe.
best dining – I love coming here with my girl friends and grabbing a glass of wine. I really enjoy the margherita pizza and the butterscotch dessert. I was luck enough to get a celebrity sighting along with the eye candy staff.
they completely lost our reservation – We made a reservation almost 2 weeks prior to the Wednesday night we planned on coming in. When we arrived the hostess said we were not on the reservation list and they were all booked up and the wait would have been 90 mins for a table. How ridiculous! For a place so nice and expensive I expect them to have integrity when honoring reservations made by phone. What a waste of time!
Will Not Be Back – We will not be back! My husband and I have to agree with some of the other reviews. The hostess was rude, really had an attitude problem. Our waitress couldn't have cared less about waiting on us. It took 45 minutes to get our food and then it wasn’t right. This restaurant needs a complete make over when it comes to their service. In fairness the food was good once they got it right. But the price, the service and rudeness isn't worth it.
Good Food, TERRIBLE SERVICE – The food was good. BUT, unfortunately what I took home from this restaurant was a feeling that I would not go out of my way to go back to eat there again. I eat out a lot, and the service here was some of the Worst I've ever encountered. Many things were missed. The waiter never came to the table after things were served to see if we needed anything. We sat there on a really hot day for 15 minutes after arrival without anyone asking us if we wanted to order a drink. The waiter argued with the table when we told him one of the salads never came out. He said "Well, it was made for you. So someone must have ate it!" More than likely, it was served to the wrong table by the incompetent staff. And to top it all off, the hostess could not tell us over the phone where they were located on Abbot KInney. She had no idea what the cross streets of her workplace were!!!!
Favorite New Restaurant!!! – Gjelina is by far the best kept secret in Los Angeles right now. Tucked away in Venice on Abbot Kinney, this hidden gem is truly a fabulous dinner spot. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, the service and recommendations could not have been better - and the food is INCREDIBLE! Tip: Order a bunch of dishes and share and definitely make a reservation in advance to sit on the patio (only way to go)! SO worth it - enjoy fellow foodies!!!
