Vintage wine labels and bright pottery plates warm up the room, which mainly holds the patio overflow. A mix of Japanese and Western culinary influences combines the pretty presentations of the former with the generous portions of the latter. Eastern-inspired seaweed-beribboned spaghettini is laden with fried calamari and doused with sour plum pesto, while the Western-influenced French pork chop is stuffed with goat cheese and raisins and anointed with black truffle sauce.

2117 has been one of our favorites for years. The cuisine is a Japanese interpretation of French and Italian. The appetizers and entrees are all wonderful. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, and the preparation is careful and thoughtful. My friends who like pork loin and lamb rave about the way they do it here. I usually have seafood or steak, and its always great. The wine list is quite good, and they have a small number of wines by the glass as well. The servers are all very attentive and nice.
In general, the atmosphere is elegant and modern yet relaxed and friendly. I have been there for dinners with large groups that became relatively boisterous, romantic dinners with my spouse, and family dinners with our son and other relatives, and it always felt right, no matter what the occasion. You can bring a date here, or your family, or a group of co-workers, and it will be a wonderful evening.
One nice thing about this restaurant is that for reasons I don't really understand, you can usually get a table for dinner at relatively short notice. This place is so good that I would expect it to be packed every night, go figure. So if you find out at 4:30pm that you have to take someone to a really nice dinner that same evening, this is a good choice.
Because the mini-mall that the restaurant is in also holds a variety of restaurants and shops that are popular in the evening, parking in the lot can be difficult. We usually park on the street one or two blocks away.
- Pros: Great food and service. Pricey, but excellent value, especially by West Side standards.

I almost don't want to write a review for this place because I don't want it to get too crowded! But it's so good that I can't help but share my experience. The food is wonderful, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is lovely. It's great for a date - my husband and I go there whenever we feel like celebrating.
Hidden gem!

Heard about this restaurant from a review in a Wine House flyer and I have been several times over the last three years. I have been consistently pleased with the quality of the food. Love the tuna & avocado and crab cake appetizers. Specials change daily. Not hip or fancy digs -- simply delicious food. It is also a tremendous value. The $35 tasting menu includes an amuse bouche, two appetizers, entree and dessert!!
