What People Are Saying About Hide Sushi Japanese Restaurant

A crowded seating area fills with local Japanese families and trendy Westsiders. Dine-in customers add their names to the list and wait for seats while takeout orders are processed like clockwork. The menu's 40-plus sushi choices concentrate on simplicity: liberal portions of monkfish liver and sweet shrimp are as exotic as it gets. Nigiri and chirashi are standouts on an abbreviated raw-and-cooked combinations menu. In an effort to streamline operations, there are no specialties, no desserts and no hostess.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Roll lovers beware: The only kind you'll find here are hand rolls, and only a few at that.

  7. The sushi here is great.
  8. This place is reasonably priced, and the food is very good.
  9. One of my fave sushi spots!
  10. Best bets - Salmon skin salad, Salmon or Beef Teriyaki a la carte with sushi or sahimi on the side or as appetizer.
  11. The dishes are not the most creative, and the dining room is unadorned, so if you're looking for Super Duper Lobster Roll with whatever, this is not your place.

  13. Amazing sushi, affordable, great experience!
  14. just good, fresh, traditional sushi!

  45. Pretty good food
  46. Their nigiri sushi is good and always fresh and a good size.

Best food in town

Best food in town

Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood.

The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you.

The appetizers are delicious.

Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance.

Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived

Very Authentic

by goldlauren

There's a lot of sushi in this neighborhood but Hide really stands out.

The atmopshere is nothing to write home about. But it is functional. On the other hand, the food is to die for. Everything is great but I most enjoy the sushi, sashimi, and chirashi. It is fresh and perfectly prepared. It is in an area with many other places, but it stands out for its consistency and quality.

Pretty good food

by lasgana

I was planning to go to Tofu Ya yesterday but the long line drove me away... So I ended up in this place.

For dinner, they have the regular teriyaki / tempura sets as well as a sushi menu. I got myself a Chirashi (sashimi over bowl of rice). Pretty good, paid $17 including tax and tips. Cash only though so make sure you have enough cash.

I didn't drive but they have their own parking lot.

  • Pros: Good food
  • Cons: $$$, but hey it's Japanese food in west LA

Good Sushi

by TacoTime

Being new to LA and loving sushi, my friend said that I needed to try. We waited in line outside of the restaurant for about 15 min before we were able to get a table. The menu is pretty simple and I thought the sushi was very good. The rice had a nice flavor and I could tell that they've been in business a long time. They seemed to know what they were doing, I love places like this. The kitchen menu looked good and will have to comeback again.

  • Pros: sushi
  • Cons: parking, cash only
