great food, great italian place, great service, great simple atmosphere, reasonable prices, great little restaurant, bad meal
Love this little place!. Fantastic place for pizza and pasta... oh yeah, and salad and everything else. It's my favorite West LA neighborhood spot. In search of a great pizza? La Bottega Marino is your answer. The servers are so kind and polite and the prices are totally affordable.
Utter disappointment. Food was mediocre, tiny amounts of the ingredients listed (had to search for the pancetta in our pasta), topped with a sub-par, negligent and rude server. I've had amazing Italian food, including in Italy, and this was not even close. Would not recommend.
Casual gourmet Italian.
We have enjoyed the menu and service of the West Los Angeles location of La Bottega Marino for years. Whether it’s an early dinner, delivery for a party at home or celebrating a special occasion in La Bottega Marino’s private room, Gregory, David, Lupe, Alex and Rio know which menu items chef Sal Marino has chosen to feature that day.
We especially like the texture/flavor mix of crostini and vegetarian antipasto appetizers; the branzini [its accompanying salsa verde is to die for], melt-in- your mouth tagliata and light-and-bursting-with-flavor pizza entrees; bread pudding and cheesecake desserts.
Gourmet items are available for purchase. Located near the Royal and NuArt movie theaters, La Bottega Mariono’s West Los Angeles location is a great place to discuss film.
The Pizza Here is Insane!!!!. In my opinion, hands down, the best NY style pizza in LA. Perfect flavor. Slightly more expensive than others but well worth it.
Hidden Gem. One of the best kept secrets in WLA, La Bottega is a casual Italian deli that has surprisingly good food at reasonable prices. Perhaps because it shares a kitchen with the upscale Il Grano next door, the quality is excellent. It's a funky place -- the type of neighborhood joint you eat in because of the food and relaxed atmosphere, but perhaps not the place to impress out of towners. I've eaten there regularly and had food delivered -- and I've yet to have a bad meal. Great pizza and pasta, especially.
My absolute favourite Italian place - a hidden jem of the Westside!!.
My now-husband and I stopped in on a random Saturday night, planning on going to Dolores, which is right across the street, but, our curiousity drew us in. We didn't even realize there were two restaurants (Il Grano is the restaurant, La Bottega is more like a trattoria), and we were worried because we were just in jeans. But, we were welcomed in and seated right away. It is an intimate setting, with just a few tables interspersed within the racks of the Italian foods that they sell. There is also a section by the door that is a deli.
Our server was so attentive and great. He gave us, on the house, a fantastic appetizer of some sort of eggplant with Italian bread, and the standard bruschetta toppings that they always give. I have never seen that appetizer listed on the menu, which is a shame because I hate eggplant, but, I loved this! My husband ordered the artichoke ravioli, which is served with a pink sauce, which is definitely something they prepare well. I ordered the fettuccine al salmone e vodka (or something like that). It is fettuccine with delicious, tender salmon chunks and capers, with an out of this world vodka sauce. I have never ordered anything else, it is my favourite! My husband used to order other things, but, now he always orders this, too, or the artichoke ravioli, if we are not hungry. The fettuccine dish is huge, and I can never eat more than half. Which is a good thing, because it is fantastic for leftovers. This place is right out of Italy, but, I am glad it is not Italy, because then I couldn't take home the leftovers!
I have only had room for dessert once; I had their nut torte. It was only okay, it was very bland. Their desserts do look delicious, and I have wanted to try others. They are all presented in the case next to the deli case, which you can drool over on the rare occasions when you have to wait for a table. Honestly, their food is so satisfying, you won't miss dessert, if nothing strikes your fancy.
Great food, simple atmosphere. This place has a surprising menu given its small size and deli-style atmosphere. This is a great place to stop by on your way too or from the movies or if Il Grano (next door) is full (lot's of people seemed confused that there were two Italian places door-to-door, but it seems to work out well).
Try La Bottega!. I actually haven't eaten in the restaurant, which I hear is nice, but have been very happy with the takeout I ordered! Flavorful pasta, a wonderful cheese plate, hearty soups - really good stuff.
Great Italian. This place has simple classic and delicious Italian dishes. Great for people watching on Larchmont too . . .
Great service & Flavorful Italian Cuisine. I usually come to La Bottega for a quick take-out dish. They are always pleasant, courteous and provide excellent service while I wait. And the food is fairly priced and great! It's a wonderful neighborhood secret of West LA!
