Burlesque Show!.
Did you know Home has a Burlesque show every Saturday night?! I was there for a late dinner of red velvet pancakes, my favorite, and saw they were getting ready for a show so I stayed. I am so glad I did!
The host was this wild drag queen with huge hair and giant, platform shoes I would totally wear. In between dancers she would work the crowd and, honestly, I haven't laughed that hard in a hot minute.
The burlesque dancers were gorgeous, 100% female, had intricate themed costumes, and were a pleasure to watch, just the right shade of sexy without being sleazy. Men, obviously, and women would both be comfortable at this show.
My favorite part was the contests where host, Vicky Vox, would wrangle audience members onto the stage and pit them against one another in the "Bootyshaking Contest" and the "Burlesque Contest", complete with loaner wigs and boas! The contestants in the burlesque off, at least the night I was there, were both dudes! The crowd went nuts.
There was a bachelorette party there that got all kinds of "special" attention. I've decided to have my boyfriend's birthday party there. If you're having a special event, let the staff know, they will let Vicky know and it's ON! Also make reservations. I was there on a rainy night with one other person, and was lucky to get a table.
I've always loved the food and atmosphere at Home, it's practically an institution in Silver Lake, and this show took it to the next level. I highly recommend the burlesque show for something different and really fun to do on a Saturday night.
Poor Service.
I've been here about 5 times. I go with a small group of 3-5 people. We always ask for separate checks and they used to give it to us. When we went this week, the server said "Oh we don't take separate checks anymore, but we can do separate payments." OK, I was here two weeks ago and they separated the checks. This sucks for our group because we never carry cash.
So, we divide up the check and give the server 5 cards. Now she tells us that she can only take 4 payments because that is all their system allows. WHAT???
This place already had crappy service, now its getting worse. They need to work on better customer service...
Home: Not for Breakfast Anymore. My wife and I have been enjoying breakfast at Home, Fletcher Drive, for several months now. We usually go once a weeek or so. We went to breakfast reciently, and after our exerience, we may never return. The Valet was set up early and still made us pay. Never before did we have to pay for parking during breakfast. Next we were given a table right away but waited about 15 minutes before the group of waiters, waiter helpers, buss boys and drink servers noticed we needed to be helped. I'm not sure I understand why there is a need for so many different people to serve you breakfast when there are only a few people during the morning hours. When our meals arrived, they were served on small square plates, and the food did not fit proerly on the plates. In the past, our meals were served on large oval plates and was more appealing. The food was still good, as we expected. The service and the changes seamed they were trying to run fine dining during breakfast was a turn off. Home need to go back to the Home way for breakfast, not the dinner service style we experienced last week.
Not worth the lunch valet..... I read the reviews and was excited to go, but so disappointed. The minute I pulled up to the lunch valet, I was already put off. I hate paying for valet at a place like this, especially at lunch! So, that was the first thing Home had to overcome. Next, we asked our water for their specialities and were assured that the Mexican salad and chicken sandwich were the best. They were okay, but not good. Certainly not worth going back and valeting for. I was hoping things might turn around for dessert. No such luck. Cold, sort of dry, not very flavorful cupcake was given to us. Won't be going back.
Wide Ranging Menu with Health Options. Much quieter and less hectic than the Hillhurst location. Cool, big dining room. Great value - have yet to have a bad meal here.
Great find. My hubby and I had heard about Home but had never made it till this past Saturday. From the very moment that we drove up to the restaurant to the moment we were thanked for visiting as we left, we truly felt that the service was above and beyond exceptional. Everyone was great, the host, our waiter, the busboys, the valet... not a single negative comment to say about them. We ordered the hummus appetizer, which i'd highly recommend and the hubby ordered a chicken wrap and I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. The wrap could have used more of the Curry Chicken, and the presentation could have been better. My dish was tasty, but the tortillas at the bottom were incredibly hard, so much so that the salsa on the eggs did nothing to soften them up. As a regular tortilla eater, I could tell by tasting it that the tortillas used were old and stale. Yuck. I'm sure that our food experience was an exception though, because the place was packed and all the patrons looked happy with their dishes. Oh, and I ordered the Bloody Mary. It was even better than The Lobsters Bloody Mary in Santa Monica!
Nice quiet place to enjoy your breakfast. This is a nice relaxing spot to enjoy a nice hearty breakfast and the beautiful mornings. I try to frequent as much as I can.
ONE OF THE BEST SPOTS FOR BRUNCH!.
This place is excellent. Their outdoor seating is very unique; they've fenced in the entire outdoor seating area, creating a calm and comfortable setting. You are totally fenced off from the hustle and bustle of the area (which isn't the greatest!).
The food is equally good. They have an extensive menu. I love their breakfast, especially their French toast and pancakes. The service was very good at this location.
If you are looking for a brunch spot this is the place to be. They do have a dinner and lunch menu, but I have yet to sample it (but I will!).
I've been to a lot of places here in Los Angeles, and this has got to be one of the best. Top 5 for me!
Please note: You will have to pay for parking. It is about $3.50. You can pay for it after enjoying your meal!
Good Food So-So Service. I live right around the corner. For a year I hesitated going in because the cheesy sign reading HOME on the building made me think it was a Dennys or a place with bad food. When I finally went there I was blown away the food is exceptional - very good and there is lots of it. The service however is so slow and the waiters have little personality. Each time the girl that was waiting on us left the table she would be gone for twenty minutes a pop. If they just get a top notch waiting staff in there they will be set. PS the parking sucks so get ready to wait for you car at the Valet.
Fun, Quaint Place to Eat.
Met a past coworker for lunch here after we learned the Kitchen was closed for lunch. Great place, and quite quaint. Enjoyed eating outside under the trees next to a Koi pond.
Both the Potato Skins and Meatloaf Sandwich were excellent. Really enjoyed the spices on the Meatloaf Sandwich.
Definitely, looking forward to returning.
