Neighborhood bar that serves an awesome mint julep and even awesomer old fashioned. The tacos they serve outside are legit too.

Most of the action at this dimly lit Silver Lake hot spot centers around the horseshoe-shaped bar. The whiskey selection is a big draw here. For Macallan, they carry the 10, 12, 18 and 20. Small, narrow smoking patio.

Best happy hour in LA! $5 drinks 7 days a week. Great collection of whiskey! Hipsters overflow, so make sure you get there early.

Tips for The Thirsty Crow

June 05, 2013

Drinks are a bit pricey here, but they have an extensive whiskey selection and mix up some tasty libations. The atmosphere is pretty cool, even if it feels a bit like a Disney version of a whiskey joint. I recommend going for happy hour.

Check out the place on Wednesday. They have $5 whiskey shots all night. The bartenders are cool and make excellent cocktails...especially Cooper and Monica.

Citysearch Editorial Review. The Thirsty Crow, the latest bar from the 1933 Group (the people also behind Saints & Sinners and Bigfoot Lodge), took over the former Stinkers space, and along with the new name comes a complete makeover. The beer cans and fake skunks that used to line the walls have been replaced with a Prohibition-era decor theme--brass fixtures, vintage bar mirrors, a retro-looking jukebox--to create a neighborhood whiskey bar with a friendly staff and low-key atmosphere. There's a definite 1930s vibe when you walk in, except for the very modern plaid-clad hipsters and artsy types bellied up to the bar--not a surprising crowd, given the Silver Lake location. A fairly extensive selection of bourbons and whiskeys is available, and the specialty drink menu ($10-$12 range) features lots of the brown stuff, like old fashioneds, Sazeracs and several types of Manhattans, including unusual marmalade and mole versions. The mint julep, made with organic mint, sugar, Maker’s Mark and crushed ice, is excellent, as is the bar’s signature drink, the Thirsty Crow, made with Sazerac rye, bitters, citrus and ginger beer all served in a mason jar.

Get the Mint Julep. If you get Kim as a bartender, consider yourself lucky. She makes a mean mint julep and is amazingly nice. She even made sure to walk over to my table to let us know happy hour was ending soon and see if we wanted one last drink with the discounted prices. Sure drinks are on the pricey side but they are incredibly well made and pack a punch.

It Doesn't Stink. Silver Lake is a place where I don’t usually find myself, but this new bourbon bar was calling my name. The Thirsty Crow is located in the old Stinkers spot and is bringing an all new crowd to the area. Opened by the guys behind Bigfoot West, the décor is a cross between Bigfoot and The Roger Room. On their menu expect to find drinks like a Manhatten, Mint Julip and Whiskey Soar. My pick for most fun drink is The Thirsty Crow (lemon, lime, rye whiskey, bitters, and ginger beer) which is served in a mason jar.

Best Bar In LA. I just found this bar a few weeks ago after moving to Echo Park. My boyfriend and I try and go as often as possible- since every time we go, we have a blast. The drink prices are really cheap, and the shots are tasty! They have Olympia Beer, which I have only found at Bar 107 in Downtown. Stinkers is like Bar 107, only much cleaner with a better group of people. The skunks are awesome! I love themed bars, and the trucker theme really makes it a great environment. My boyfriend and I plan on having out engagement party in this little piece of happiness.

Stinkers Hits Home. Im beyond excited that there is now a great bar that has a pittsburgh beer (Iron City)!!!!!!!

The Dj's feature a soundtrack I've heard described as "every house party in 1977" that alone is reason to go! hahaha
