Talk about a meat market: It's a wiener wonderland at this Downtown L.A. purveyor of exotic grilled sausages. Located in a brick-and-mortar corner shop in the heart of the Arts District, this German/Belgian eatery is the brainchild and partnership of cousins and sausage buffs Joseph Pitruzzelli and Tyler Wilson. Aimed at giving folks a little something beyond the basic pork and beef experience, the menu here is wildly eclectic with items ranging from the somewhat familiar (sausage sandwiches, Belgian fries with strawberry ketchup and other flavors) to the downright exotic (think sausages in…

- What to Drink:
- Trying to build up the courage to sample the rattlesnake sausage? Their 24-tap selection of German and Belgian beers can probably help take the edge off.

Wurstkuche: Mediocre sausage at double the price.
by LA Artist
What people don't know or seem to care about, is the effect they have had on the arts district. They themselves may think it's cool for them to be there, but I was the artist next door and they literally were a living nightmare and drove me out of my studio! They are the anti-artists of the arts district as far as I'm concerned and I've been there 30 years! They suck as neighbors and have brought nothing but non stop 24 hour noise, 10 times the congestion and their yuppie arrogance! And as far as their overpriced mediocre sausage, Pinks or Fab Hotdogs blow them away at half the price.
That's my review as their X-artist neighbor. See what they put the LA arts district artists through can be seen at WurstkucheSucks-dot-com

Wurstkuche must be German for Overrated

Seriously overpriced. Annoying layout that creates a line and no seating. It's weird because they are paying people to take orders in line but it doesn't help anything move faster. They need to police the insanely loud dining room when they're crowded for the hoards of people sitting around that are not eating and drinking while people stand there with food in their hands.
Also, why can't I drink a beer while waiting 20 minutes outside. Oh, that's right, the horrible "hip" design.
This place is a mess. Food included. Once all the hype dies down this place will too.
A good sausage soothes the soul.

Everyone needs a good sausage, every now and then.
Can I tell you how excited I am about downtown LA's renaissance? I'm FREAKING REALLY EXCITED! Just a few years back my only lunch options were Korean BBQ in Little Tokyo or a bag of chips from one of the many crack-head laden liquor stores near by.
Now? Now, I get to choose 2 sauces for my Belgian fries. And for that I thank you Wurstkuche. Thank you for not one but 3 veggie sausage options. Thank you for that extra side of sauerkraut. Thank you for that serving of apple beer that was just enough to be relaxing and still allow me to return to work in an operable state. And thank you even more for letting me sit in your devastatingly decorator perfect dining area, making me feel more awesome for choosing to lunch here.
Long live sausage and beer. And fries.
- Pros: easy street parking, great beer
- Cons: sometimes there's a line.
YES!!!! Another Awesome Place Downtown!!

Heard about Wurstkuche from two friends who simply called it "This German Sausage Place". I soon got the name from them and went down on a Saturday Afternoon. Ordered a rattlesnake sausage and a Louisiana red hot with a small order of fries. Sat at the bar and ordered a strong Belgium beer and when my food came I enjoyed a really delicious meal. I hate that it took me so long to hear about it. Just understand that parking isn't the best in the area so if you go at night expect to do some walking and some waiting in line. It's worth the trip!
- Pros: Great Bread, Meat, Beer LIST, near Gold Line , nice staff
- Cons: Too small for it's awesomeness, parking
