PATHETIC NEW spot in K-town is more like it. I AGREE after reading entries before mine...2 out of the 5 entries have to be posted people working at this place!!!! I am new to this but Im a Yelper and this place was so bad i wanted to just tell everyone!!!

I went here to have dinner with friends that heard great things.. boy they must have heard it from the employees who work there.

I mean come on. They have a pretty asian waitress that looks good but cant make a drink to save her life.. nice to look at but WTH if i want an Manhattan.. dont ask me whats in it and how to make it.. Your the Bartender right???

Food was expensive and incredibly small. This is not a must be place in Beverly Hills or WeHo.. its in a mall connected to a grocery store talk about overrated.

We dropped 150.00 for drinks and food. This is just too much to spend in such a dinky place

I mean they dont have locks on the bathroom doors!!!!

There are alot of places the same or nicer.. Cafe Bleu, Gaam, even toe bang has better food and doesnt try to come off as a super trendy night spot and eatary..

Save your money and go else where for drinks and food. Your mileage may vary.. IMHO thanks for reading

OVERRATED, OVERPRICED, PATHETIC. You know, after reading the five total entries before me, I came to the conclusion that 2 out of the 5 entries were posted by either the owner of Maitreya or employees trying to keep their jobs since the two entries are both made by Citysearch members that have only posted once, respectively. Furthermore, each of the entries (entries posted by creg31 and foodlover6) are filled with very similar grammatical errors and each entry consists of glowing reviews that detail the menu of the bar, in a cheap, pathetic effort to market their bar. To be honest, I went to Maitreya because I work at the "Equitable" building on Wilshire, just down the street from the place. I checked out the bar because as I was having a smoke break, a woman gave me a $1 coupon for a beer. What a deal right? Well, turns out that the beer was for domestic only and the food was exorbitantly expensive and incredibly miniscule - not to mention, overrated. If I am going to splurge $30+ or more for food and one beer, I would rather go to a place where the portions are bigger and where the food is worth the money. Due to the economic downturn, you would think their prices would be more reasonable. Using $1 beer coupons to lure customers, only to overcharge them for subpar food and service... well that's unjustified. If you are in Ktown and want to go to a bar where the food is actually good and worth the money and you happen to be on 6th Street, go across the street to Blue in the 7-11 plaza or Bliss and Gaam in Chapman Plaza. All three of these places are just as classy as Maitreya, and they don't even try to sell themselves the way Maitreya does.

If I were to sum up this place in one word it would be OVERRATED.

Terrible!!. The worst! I can't believe they charge twnety bucks for fried fice with runny chicken fat! Horrible.. And my lady had what they called seafood spaghetti, which turned out to be some undercooked pasta with what seemed like canned clams and one shrimp cut in half. An insult fot 28 bucks. And there's a funny smell in the place. I asked the server what the vegetables were in one dish and, although he barely spoke english, he managed to say "usually broccoli" Usually?? Well, The bald bartender with the attitude wasn't much more helpful. In fact, he was rude.. Lose the tude buddy and just pour the drinks, thanks. But worst of all was the food. You go out to eat to EAT after all and if the food is good I'll pay fair price but YUCK. Save your money and get some take out chinese and a six pack before you waste your money and timein a fake joint like this. The absolute worst!!! But don't worry, this place will be out of business soon, judging by the lack of customers in the stinky place, which is just as well as it will soon be replaced by somethink hopefully a lot better. Couldn't get any worse than this!! P.U.

Great NEW spot in K-town!!. First off, I have to disagree with the user below....I'm sorry but if you are not used to dress codes by now, you must not go out in LA very often, you cant blame the restaurant for trying to class-up k-town. Besides the fact, that this has nothing to do with the quality of this new bar/restaurant.

I went last night with my girls to check out this new spot and we had a great time! The tapas and the cocktails all seemed unique to Maitreya. I highly recommend the Maitreya lemondrop, which they've put their own little twist on, by adding champagne! And as far as the food, we tried the tapas platter, which gave us little samples of many of their dishes, all of which were interesting and delicious!! We will definitely be going back to try more of the menu and possibly even try the 3 course-dinner. Thanks Maitreya for bringing a new kind of cuisine and class to our neighborhood!!

Great new spot in K-town. This place is located in brand new building in K-town.

There was underground parking for free (which was good since I don't like valet!)

The main lounge area was so pretty with all pretty lights and decorations.

Their wine selection was quite good with variety choices and its dishes were tasty as well.

My friend tried its cocktail and she said it's very unique and delicious.
