In Short – Try not to get arrested for bowling under the influence inside this party-packed bowling lounge. Once just a popular Hollywood mainstay, this upscale chain has gone downtown with a full bar and premium suite for VIPs looking for private lanes. Complete with a DJ, pool table and upgraded bar food like mac-and-cheese bites and tuna lollipops, this L.A. Live addition entices pre-club partiers to hit the makeshift dance floor and keeps hardcore bowlers happy with 18 sleek, neon-glowing lanes.

Sucks

by gesh

I have been to this establishment once and had a great time with my friends but the help SUCKED. Everyone seemed to have that "Hollywood" attitude for no reason. They didn't realize they were employees -not owners (no excuse for owners to be rude either). Our food was not prepared properly and nothing we ordered seemed to be available and they were not apologetic. They treated us as if we should be thankful they allowed us to bowl.

Went back a couple of weeks ago. Figured I'd give it one more try. Unfortunatly the Goons at the door were still there and still just as rude. If the rule is no baggy jeans-let it be the rule but also there must be some way to know, as a staright male, just how tight jeans have to be to be considered not baggy. There's just no need to be rude about it. Parking already cost an arm and a leg and then you can't even do what you came to do? Are you kidding me? Somebody needs a lesson in Customer Service Ettiquette. AND we really can't fault the "guys" at the front door-they are just doing what they were told be the owner. SO shame on the owner of Lucky Strike LA Live!

Will NEVER go back. No rating earned but because I could not publish without one I give it 1star.

Don't do your birthday or other party there, you'll regret!!

by adventureater

Do not waste your time, business, money, or event in this place!!!

Besides the ridiculously high prices, this place was willing to let a group of over 15 people (of different races and both genders), all there for a party and already inside spending $, leave because 1 person joining the party had supposedly 'too baggy pants,' even though the place was pretty dead and empty. Everyone agreed his pants were not too baggy, and their dress code policy says, but doesn't explain what is 'excessively baggy pants'. If you are a guy, you never know what will be considered 'too baggy', as also confirmed by other reviewers.

Service is also somewhat incompetent, since we had to ask the bartender more than twice for the same drink, and they are also VERY SNEAKY with prices promoting martinis as part of happy hour special, but not explaining that some martinis are not part of the special until after you ask for the wrong martini. (and after the obvious mistake, not offering to change the actual happy hour drink you intended to order)

Oh, also, too hard to find out EXACTLY how much it is to bowl!!! I called at least 5 times, and prices varied from $5/6 per game, and $75/ lane per hour. There's nothing about it on their site. (the actual price was $75 per lane when we got there, whether you have 1 person or 12, on a friday or saturday night).

There are just so many better places around there!!

For Happy Hour & food: go to McCormick's! For a night of ACTUAL upscale fun, go to the Standard Downtown or the Edison! For hangout after a Staples game or birthday party, go to ESPN Zone a few doors down! For bowling, maybe go to their Orange location. For B.S., go to this place.

  • Pros: if anything, it's the innovative idea of bowling/club
  • Cons: Everything else, especially doorman, vibe, prices, service.

Great Place For A Night Out!

by AlliCat84

I was so tired of just going to the same old bars and clubs in LA. But my friend suggested we go to Lucky Strike after she heard that it was fun. Seriously, it was the best night out in a long time. The best part was the drinks. Yeah the bowling was fun, but the way the bartender kept making my drinks-- they were amazing! I will be coming back!
