Don't do your birthday or other party there, you'll regret!! – Do not waste your time, business, money, or event in this place!!!
Besides the ridiculously high prices, this place was willing to let a group of over 15 people (of different races and both genders), all there for a party and already inside spending $, leave because 1 person joining the party had supposedly 'too baggy pants,' even though the place was pretty dead and empty. Everyone agreed his pants were not too baggy, and their dress code policy says, but doesn't explain what is 'excessively baggy pants'. If you are a guy, you never know what will be considered 'too baggy', as also confirmed by other reviewers.
Service is also somewhat incompetent, since we had to ask the bartender more than twice for the same drink, and they are also VERY SNEAKY with prices promoting martinis as part of happy hour special, but not explaining that some martinis are not part of the special until after you ask for the wrong martini. (and after the obvious mistake, not offering to change the actual happy hour drink you intended to order)
Oh, also, too hard to find out EXACTLY how much it is to bowl!!! I called at least 5 times, and prices varied from $5/6 per game, and $75/ lane per hour. There's nothing about it on their site. (the actual price was $75 per lane when we got there, whether you have 1 person or 12, on a friday or saturday night).
There are just so many better places around there!!
For Happy Hour & food: go to McCormick's! For a night of ACTUAL upscale fun, go to the Standard Downtown or the Edison! For hangout after a Staples game or birthday party, go to ESPN Zone a few doors down! For bowling, maybe go to their Orange location. For B.S., go to this place.
Great Place For A Night Out! – I was so tired of just going to the same old bars and clubs in LA. But my friend suggested we go to Lucky Strike after she heard that it was fun. Seriously, it was the best night out in a long time. The best part was the drinks. Yeah the bowling was fun, but the way the bartender kept making my drinks-- they were amazing! I will be coming back!
Classic Game, Great Fun! – I love being able to enjoy a great night out- all in one place! Lucky Strike had it all- food, drinks, music, dancing, and of course- bowling. I liked how this classic game has been jazzed up. It was such a nice change from the typical dinner-and-a-movie routine.
Best Time I've ever had bowling – Seriously the most fun I've ever had bowling. I love the atmosphere- its so chic and classy. Nobody looks like a bum and the place is so clean! I loved the drinks (mmm cosmos) and the whole place buzzed with activity. Took the girlfriends out and we wented one of those private rooms and stayed all night!
Nice new Lucky Strike, great for drinks – Great new space, didn't bowl but had drinks with friends, got a table near the bar immediately, service a little slow but way better than expected considering their newness and the wide-eyed looky-loo crowd. Our server Susan was awesome! It's a great new space and we will return. Made new local, Downtown neighbor/friends (hey David & Jean!) The only drawback are that the flat screen sports TVs behind the bar are too bright for the very dark bar areas, they were blinding and people bumped into our table--the beers were saved though! I've only been to Lucky Strike at Hollywood & Highland once but this space seems bigger, cleaner and more comfortable. And our bill was less than we expected.
Staples Center sports aficionados now have a post-game, after-party option just a few steps away--bowling by the bar, anyone? – In Short
Try not to get arrested for bowling under the influence inside this party-packed bowling lounge. Once just a popular Hollywood mainstay, this upscale chain has gone downtown with a full bar and premium suite for VIPs looking for private lanes. Complete with a DJ, pool table and upgraded bar food like mac-and-cheese bites and tuna lollipops, this L.A. Live addition entices pre-club partiers to hit the makeshift dance floor and keeps hardcore bowlers happy with 18 sleek, neon-glowing lanes.
